datzenmike
There's likely something I forgot, so use common sense. Because the carb is on the intake, try not to tip it over on it's side too much when cleaning it OR remove the carb once off. Again easier to do this when the head is off. Put back on just before installing the head. If head is being machined remove the manifolds when the head is off, it's infinitely easier. Quote Link to comment
Kathos
Noted, I have neglected my Datsun because I rebuilt my 79 yamaha engine over the winter. Completely redid the wiring harness and all. Now that shes almost complete I need to get my Datsun cruising again for the summer.I plan on buiyng a gasket kit from ebay, probably this one. The forum is always good for making the job just a bit easier! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I got mine from NAPA and was $23, 5 years ago. You don't need the whole set for the head. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Probably not a bad time to re-seal the front cover, in which case you'll need the two front cover gaskets, an oil pump gasket, water pump and outlet gaskets as well. Oh and a t-stat housing gasket to the head and one for the outlet. Quote Link to comment
