Mattndew76
I guess Paxton is sending me the 11lbs kit for a Novi 1000. Max Lbs is 11..... But the fan is capable of 22lbs with other pulleys. Meh it is what it is. Even though these little 1200's have had people run 20lbs to them..... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
ARP and a homemade copper gasket and away you go. Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
ARP studs and head gasket should be here Tuesday. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I can't wait to see a build thread. Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
The engine build will be in this thread. Stay tuned for OIC's 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
What size HP fuel pump should I be laying my eyes on to get? External? Recommendation for Fuel cells too..Please? Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
What kind of HP do you think this thing will honestly make? 150? I bet a stock Bosch type in-tank pump would supply more than enough fuel. I try not to use external pumps. Two reasons: they make too much noise and they run hotter than a submerged pump. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, try a generic RCI aluminum tank. OK, they aren't fuel cells exactly (fuel cells technically have a bladder) but for $180 you can buy a pretty nice tank already equipped with a pickup, a breather, a return and a removable filler neck. I have machined OEM style fuel pump flanges and welded them in to be able to use an OEM fuel pump. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Honestly I am thinking its only going to make 125 to the wheels. It may look wild and over done by most opinion, but i'm having fun. I ordered this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-RCI-12-GALLON-DRAG-RACING-FUEL-CELL-W-SENDING-UNIT-2-SUMP-RACE-GAS-TANK-/271030228212?hash=item3f1aa914f4&vxp=mtr&rmvSB=true Quote Link to comment

Mattndew76
Figured external is easier to change out should it need to be replaced. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
You probably don't have to worry about this too much, but the rail mounted pumps tend to overheat resulting in a drop of fuel pressure. I haven't played around with them too much, but I've always thought that a fuel return system, properly engineered, could circumvent this issue. Maybe even the addition of an in-line finned type cooler just before the pump. Do you know what your fuel pressure requirements are yet? Bosch makes a couple external pumps that are inexpensive, but they never seem to have the proper inlet/outlet combination and mounting them is never easy. I see guys use sttrap type clamps to mount them, but then there is no vibration isolation and they resonate like crazy. I bet they loose some of their efficiency being hard mounted like that too. I have mounted them in foam, but that never lasts too long. The last one I installed was in my dad's Sunbeam Alpine that I swapped a 4AG 20V into. I made a plate that it was attached to and that plate was isolated from the chassis by stud type rubber isolators. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
A rubber mount isolator is about all we can do to reduce vibration. A heat sinc and thermal grease would be the best for heat reduction. I need to learn more about how to design a return system for over pressure. I haven't quite ventured into what PSI I should be running. I'm going back through my Corky Belle books. Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Got some EDIS4 stuff in the mail today :) Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I scanned through the thread and most of the links. I also spent some time looking for pics, but didn't find them either. I helped slodat with an EDIS mod years ago. He used the setup off an Escort. His crank pulley could use two Vbelts....I machined off the one on the backside and made it a press fit between the 36 tooth ring and the pulley. He heated the ring in the oven and cooled the pulley in the freezer and it went right on and locked up solid. I saw similar mods in the thread, but none with the ring on the backside of the dampener. Mattndew76
I'm going to machine a steel ring and use location pins on the old pulley. Button head bolts should be ok to hold it on. I have seen a few press on setups since I started looking at this EDIS stuff too. I may still end up with a 6061 under drive pulley with the steel trigger ring too. Quote Link to comment
