ohmrchristopher
I've realized driving a Datsun pickup means people are going to ask if you are selling your truck or if they can buy it now. If it's the later I barf out a ridiculous amount and usually hold a pretty straight face about it until they walk away, usually $10,000. If they strike up a conversation and we get talking for a while and it comes up I'll usually say something high but not that high they don't actually think it over. Recently my magic number is $4000 (cost I paid + repairs + inspections to get in registered in BC) even though I have sunk far more in to it. But money is not the sole thing spent, more my time working on it better driving my truck. So really I ask what value can you put on a "classic" automobile that still is a very big part of your life? 1973 620, bone stock, blown hg, welded diff, debts and rust, etc a real ratty junker. 3 Quote Link to comment

sebpv
i bought a 73 620 with the shark theme for 2700$ about two years ago and that truck has a lot of problems: head gaskets, leaky pan, cross-threaded spark plug, leaky valve seals, vaccum leak, rusted through cab mounts, electrical gremlins everywhere i.e. gauges not working, headlights malfunctioning, marker lights half not working, body beat to shit. Shifter monkey arm jimmy rigged...The only thing i was happy with was the heater working... I only wish I had the balls to bargain his fucking deal... 1 Quote Link to comment
Eccles
i bought mine 6 months ago, took me a year to find a good one, i payed 3200 registered and road worthy and have been offered twice that already, not for sale and never for sale as I'm in love 1 Quote Link to comment

windowless66
Mine cost $400 but was pretty sad :) Now I'd be asking $3000 If you were wanting something different just ask what it would cost you to replace it. If you don't want to sell it what it would cost you to replace it plus $500-1000 2 Quote Link to comment
qwik510
If someone wanted mine, I'd tell them $10k like you said. If they act like I'm crazy asking $10k, I'd show them my other one for $900 Then I'd ask them... How much do you think it would cost to make this one look like the blue one? $10k would seem pretty cheap then. 4 Quote Link to comment
ohmrchristopher
They are such great trucks it really is hard to find a small 4 cly that works as hard as these trucks do. There's nothing (in my eyes) that even really catches my interest, other then a late model Tacoma, but that's far over my price range. I don't want to be driving a R type Anger or some s10. There's not much you can compare them too other then a Japanese Kei work truck w/ the dump bed haha that would be sweet. 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
Yeah, I don't want to sell my yellow one. She cost me 2300 and I fell in love as soon as I started driving her. . Would probably throw out a ridiculous number for the people just offering but if they actually seemed interested and not just trying to flip I would offer up the blue truck as he sits for pretty low. No driveline, tranny or engine just a rolling chassis right now. Only paid 250 for him Edit: here's my two 3 Quote Link to comment
ryknot
20,000.00 I think Jay Leno saw it once, and waved  I could swear I saw your truck up for sale for much cheaper than 20,000 last year! 2 Quote Link to comment
orangie
Most people are putting up high numbers because they don't want to sell. If I had to sell, maybe around 3K as is, not running and about 6k running and painted. 1 Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
I could swear I saw your truck up for sale for much cheaper than 20,000 last year! You all had a chance last year, now it is not for sale for much cheaper. New year, new price 1 Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I finally got my old truck back, and I would walk through hell in a gasoline G-String before I would sell mine. Ha Ha.20150315_142307 by [url=https://www.flickr.com 7 Quote Link to comment
H20doctor
Funny I have never been asked to sell my truck , or been approached while out driving around town... I would let my truck go for between 2500 and 3k Only because the engine has less than 6 thousand miles on it , and its not a stock L20 .. the exhaust system was also expensive ... 2 Quote Link to comment
Scgreen620
I've said 10k too, but it's just to scare them off Quote Link to comment
ohmrchristopher
I'm just glad to hear it's a general thought. Either a high amount to scare off the kooks or something reasonable that reflects the truck. Now next question... IF you sold it, what would you replace it with? Not another 620, that's it. I think I would go classic Chevy pickup like a C10, the hit in the fuel cost would suck driving a V8 but the aftermarket parts available would outway that. I've had 90s Ranger and a Toyota and would like a little more cab room and power haha Quote Link to comment
orangie
I like small cars and trucks. I also like a modern suspension. Next time around I would graft a newer frame on to an older car/truck (trucks are easier to do). Quote Link to comment
ohmrchristopher
Yeah that's true. Keep the body and just change the frame. Quote Link to comment
