So my little l20B is coming along just fine. Should be a little screamer. With ITB.s and no air cleaner she should run like a champ.

Looks nice I see those head bolts look different no heads but threads on top.

Head studs.  No, or significantly less, twisting of the stud when tightening the nut vs a head bolt, and ARP being arguably a stronger product than stock bolts.

So got my engine all finished up. Carbs are just to make pretty.  Big tanks to Robert Austin for building it for me and Aaron at Arlington machine for the head work. And a shout out to me for all the cash.

All done just got to install water pump and that valve cover is a rare 1300 cover. No vent on top. Just not sure why to do, rex or black or chrome. Might just stick with he red.

I would be a little concerned about the paint on the inside of the engine.

I spent about an hour masking it all off. No need to be concerned....

I did not pull off the masking when it was done, but I'm sure it was fine.  If a small bit of over spray happened to get in there, I don't see any cause for harm.

You should see how the cheapie engine rebuilders paint short blocks they push out the door.  😯

I think he was talking about the paint under the timing cover.  I’ve generally left that bare metal as well.  Oil/gas and heat will all get in there when tankers trailer hits a bump.
