67_1600
I have a '71 and had some questions about mine as well. The first image is a crude one that I put together after someone else had asked. Hopefully they'll help out. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
It would make it easier to help if we knew your exact setup. Is everything stock or are you running an electric dizzy? The process is slightly different. Quote Link to comment
oldgasman
I thought I did say stock tach to a dizzy dist. Two wires off tach go to eng compartment 1- black with green 2- black with white Quote Link to comment
67_1600
Most stock tachs I've seen have a black wire, a green wire and 2 white wires. The white wires are the only ones that go to the engine compartment and connect to the positive side of the coil. Black is ground and green is the power wire (switched or otherwise). You may already have a harness for the tach taped with blue tape to your dash frame. This thread from over on the Realm might be helpful: http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=25745&hilit=tach Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
I thought I did say stock tach to a dizzy dist. Two wires off tach go to eng compartment 1- black with green 2- black with white ''Dizzy'' is just slang for distributor, not a type. Basically, you hook up the tach in series, so if you have a ballast resistor the wires go in between it and the coil. If its electronic, the tach wires go between the igniter and coil positive. Cut the positive wire and splice tach wires in between. I can't remember which wire goes to which side but it only works one way. My stock tach wires shorted between themselves so the car would run but tach wouldn't work, I had to run new wires to everything. If you have this problem... Green- 12v positive switched Black- ground White(x2)- tach loop to coil positive in series Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
No need to cut any wires just make a splice to get it in series from the ballast. the blk whit wire to ballast is a female so make a male extention to the tach and one comming back Quote Link to comment
