JohnnyBlu
Hi I've been lurking for a while, and Finally joined. In 2013 I bought a 4dr from forum member fiveSeventy. That car really got me infected with the datsun bug. I have done a bunch of work trying to clean it up. Shes been painted any number of times, and is no stranger to bondo. The electrical situation, to put it nicely, was a mess. Its been a project. A few of when I got it. You can also dig up fiveseventies thread on this car. I did a bunch to clean things up. I removed the rear bucket seats and learned to sew, recovered the original back seat. did a lot electrical clean up, moved relays up under the glove box, etc I made a dash cap instead of shelling out a ton of cash for a oem one. Painted little bits and pieces, including the floor flat black (which I regret). Anyways, a few of how she it now. Then this entered my life! I spotted it back in march in this driveway and made a point to drive by it routinely until one day... 1 Quote Link to comment

JohnnyBlu
Indy, nice job solving that doozy of a puzzle for Draker! Anyway, more pics of the 4dr, ka24e w/ 5spd... 1 Quote Link to comment
JohnnyBlu
And the Wagon. I'll start a build thread later when I have some more time but here are a few teaser details. L20b, decked U67 head, 5 spd, 280 struts w/ coilovers. engine was built/supplied/installed by Ermish (along with all other non stock bits on the car) and owner wasn't too knowledgeable so I don't know the engine's internals. Lots of work already done by me in the last month, and much more to come. Anyways...PICS! 1 Quote Link to comment

JohnnyBlu
More wagon stuff, photo dump... went to visit the family, brother's 81 TE72 and dad's 76 plymouth voyager (over 300k with no rebuild!). Got my grill on. Front pass. hi beam doesn't really sit right. 3 different light lenses on the 4 lights No more driving around with a stick to prop the hood up! Spent a lot of time today with the not so fun job of tracing wiring and poking around with a meter. Brake lights blowing fuses with turn signals, no hi beams, head lights dim with turn signal flasher, but most of the time no turn signals. So much fun. Also dealing with the auto to manual swap, unpluged wires everywhere, relays for auto and so on. Also, when I got it, found a brown gooey patch at the gas tank that was leaking, found this! I decided to postpone the inevitable tank removal / repair for a temp fix, fiberglass with polyester resin. Seen it done a few times before. Seems to be doing alright but won;t last forever. works for now. Someday with likely have to drop the tank and do all the lines and such. Just seemed like something that could be a major pita and snowball. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
wagon look alot better Like the sidedrafts. always ck the jets so they dont back out if you think you have a ignition proplem first. what kind of carbs dont look like standard weber or mikunis? cleam up that ignition wiring to the coil with soem black tape or better yet make them red/blk with the letters B and C so a idiot can re hook it up later. Quote Link to comment
JohnnyBlu
I believe the carbs are Mikuni 40mm type T. Does anyone know where to find the connectors to hook up a choke cable to the enrichment arms? Coil wiring is on the to-do list, which keeps growing. Not sure why I haven't done them yet. they are pretty hard to look at in current state. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
YEAH your choke cover is same as the jet cover never really seen that before. must be a early set of mukinis. make B red c blk (matchbox) and type i it nice up to the coil. I use TR3 car polich and the GOJO handcleaner to clean my engine bay wires ect...... just dont use the stuff if your going to paint soon Quote Link to comment

freetheoranges
Hello, nice builds! What is the gray stuff on the wagon floor? Looks better than the black stuff! Quote Link to comment
JohnnyBlu
I'll have to dig though the garage to find it and look. just some no rust seal stuff. probably not as good as the por15 everyone raves about. It went on pretty nicely with a foam roller. Other note, these went in over the weekend. Was running 3" blocks on stock springs and uncut bumpstops = no bueno Ride is so much better. maybe sits 1/2" higher now, and I trummed bumbstops down a bit. Still need to grab a pic of current stance. Was impatient and just started driving it once i got them in. 1 Quote Link to comment

And also were did you get them. Thanks Looking very good by the way. Quote Link to comment
JohnnyBlu
Still lacking on the side shot pics. The springs came from Flex-form. Check out this thread http://community.ratsun.net/topic/52054-510-wagon-rear-lowering-kit/ I think they ended up being about a 2 1/2" drop from stock. I am approx 1/2" higher now than I was with stock springs and 3" blocks. Now I want to sort out some air shocks. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Higher?????????? I figured you wanted lower with no blocks Quote Link to comment
JohnnyBlu
Yeah, a little higher. And we all want LOW. Really tough, I wanted a working suspension. Wasn't too fun running around on the bump stops all the time. When talking with Mark (Flex form guy) I had him flip the eyes on the ends of the springs to help keep the car low, and he swapped out the front eyes for the ones he uses in the rear for clearance. We didn't think his standard front eye would fit if mounted upside down. These new springs are quite a bit stiffer than stock, and I trimmed the bump stops down a bit so now there is travel. end result is a much better ride. May add a small angled block in there down the road if I find time/motivation to raise the drive shaft tunnel. I still need to do new shocks, as the originals are worthless. I just haven't decided on what to use yet. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Maybe a half in lower in back. But really it looks GREAT get the KYB gas a adjust as they are good but might slightly raise the car . Yes wagon best have a working suspension but 1 ? is you get axle wrap if you take off hard and the drive line moves up????????? Eric 510 would do this and hated it. But it was lowered 3 inches and would hit the tunnel shit I dig this wagon and color Quote Link to comment
fisch
Goon is looking sweet! And the springs are spmeethng I will have to think about for my goon down the road. Quote Link to comment
