Hi from the UK! So I originally went to look at an Oz import that was a proper project, the geezer selling is in the Datsun/Nissan game and I think he is a member on here, he said come see what he has. I did. Fell in love with this...

Imported from California only a month or two before, and just getting its registration and MoT. It hooked me, a deal was done. Picked it up a few weeks later, drove it the couple of hundred mile home and it didn't miss a beat, happy!

Good, photos work, though the Photobucket app I'm using is being a temperamental twatbag.

Got hold of a set of period Wolfrace slot mags, 6 lug..

Then some modest lowering, 3 inch blocks on the rear and reindexed the front torsion bars by 1 spline

Also put some sound deadening in the cab and lightweight auto carpet. Few other odd jobs, including replacing the split 'kangaroo pouch' washer bag with an Asahi beer can I had stashed. Responsibly drank the beer first of course...

We come to now, I've got hold of this...

L20b and 5 speed box. The current engine and gearbox are tiiiired and crunchy, so it made sense.

Swap will commence in the next month or two. I'm pretty much decided on a 32/36 weber carb, what are the kits from Weber Carbs Direct like?

Very nice my friend over the pond. That truck you have there is a nice truck and well worth the trip over in to your hands. Love the pics.

The L20b will be a great improvment over the 1600 plus 5 speed equals win and better fuel milage not that i care but at 1.30 a liter and 3.785 liters to a US gallon I would care.

Let us know if you need parts or help there is a whole lot of help on this forum.  cheers

Initial verdict.. A shed load of rust deposits and crap inside, hopefully will flush through ok. Leaking water pump, and a few other issues to get over.

^^^ that was over a week ago...

L20b is in, 5 spd is in, prop shaft is shortened. As I said before, water pump was knackered, alternator wouldn't line up, and also had no fuel pump. Used the L16 items. Couple of engine flushes, and oil changes, and it's running pretty well considering the state of it. Smokey as hell at times, if it doesn't clear after a bit of running and another oil change then I'll look at getting some engine work done and such. I'll get the teething problems sorted, then look at the next steps.

So, happy as hell it's been done, but frustrated the engine itself isn't healthy.

I helped export this truck from CA. Have you adjusted the brakes? the first day I had it I locked them up and it did a 360 in the middle of the street. interesting direction with the slot mags. Glad to see the truck went to somebody that is improving it. That's an authentic Bardon bumper on the back.
