when i turn the light switch to just parking lights, the car is fine.

when i turn on the actuall front/back lights, there is a short.

it has melted 3 of my accelerator cables at the most inconvenient times

any suggestions/ spare accelerator cables i can buy?

First suggestion is to fix it before you have an engine fire.

The accelerator cables are melting because they're being used as grounds, probably for the 30A headlight circuit. The roadster folks are all too familiar with this issue. :(

You need to check grounds and definitely the headlight circuit. Remove and clean all connections. Dielectric grease is your friend.
