hey guys,,,black bomber here.... been thinking about getting a second Nissan truck...I will always have my old 720, but I need something to fall back on besides my motorcycle in the winter....Do you guys know if the motors in the new frontier trucks are still assembled in Japan, or are they actually assembled over here in the states...????         .I know if the vin # starts with a  J  then its a Japan made truck,   but I am thinking about a 2000 or later 2WD, or something like that.......          thanks guys ......

Your logic appears flawed.

The VG33 is a gas hog, and not very powerful (l unless it's in a 510). It is frickin bulletproof though. The KA24DE is a great engine, regardless of where it was manufactured. The VQ40DE is also an excellent engine. I owned a 1998 Frontier with the KA, and currently have a 2006 crew cab 2wd with the VQ40. My 2006 is the best vehicle I've ever owned, by far. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat without thinking about it. I haven't heard anything bad about the QR25's either, but the 4.0 is where it's at.

I too wouldn't mind finding a more reliable truck with 4x4 for winter driving. And something with more room.  A crew cab Frontier with the supercharged engine would be ideal, but DAMN PEOPLE ARE PROUD OF THEM! I hate the morning cold start pain in the ass with a carbureted engine and waiting forever for the damn heater to kick in by the time I am more than halfway to work!
