datsunaholic
4-cyl Frontiers had Mexican made KA24DEs. 6-cyl ones (VG33) were made in Tennessee. That's for 1st gen (through 2004). 2nd gen, QR25DE 4-cyl, still Mexican made. Don't know where the VQ is made for US-market trucks, could be here. Quote Link to comment

67_1600
Your logic appears flawed. Something may be, but I don't think it's his logic... I will always have my old 720 1 Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
The VG33 is a gas hog, and not very powerful (l unless it's in a 510). It is frickin bulletproof though. The KA24DE is a great engine, regardless of where it was manufactured. The VQ40DE is also an excellent engine. I owned a 1998 Frontier with the KA, and currently have a 2006 crew cab 2wd with the VQ40. My 2006 is the best vehicle I've ever owned, by far. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat without thinking about it. I haven't heard anything bad about the QR25's either, but the 4.0 is where it's at. 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Why does it matter what geographic location a motor was assembled? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Your logic appears flawed. Yes the J at the beginning of the chassis number denotes where it was built... Japan. Quote Link to comment
blackbomber
Logic or not if I buy another Nissan , its gonna be built in Japan,,,guess I am just old school.... be 50 years old on the 20th........ Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
I too wouldn't mind finding a more reliable truck with 4x4 for winter driving. And something with more room. A crew cab Frontier with the supercharged engine would be ideal, but DAMN PEOPLE ARE PROUD OF THEM! I hate the morning cold start pain in the ass with a carbureted engine and waiting forever for the damn heater to kick in by the time I am more than halfway to work! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Why does it matter what geographic location a motor was assembled? Doesn't. As long as the parts are Japanese monkeys could be building them.. Quote Link to comment
