Tracks around here like the Ridge and SIR want 600-750 for a track day and beginners must be in racing school last I checked. The Driving School was more like a "how to drive on a track safely" school. There happened to be a major drift event at Sonoma the same day so the instructors present were few. Speed Dynamics apologized for the lack of instuctors a couple times during the classroom sessions. I think that is a great way to start though, being safe and driving home are the most important things. 6 Quote Link to comment

I've also run with NorCal Shelby Club but can't recommend anyone to run with them. I had a bad experience during tech (tech guy was an a-hole, yelling and swearing at us) the one time I did an event with them.My buddy wants to drive my car so we're thinking about doing Laguna January 3rd with Speed SF. 5 Quote Link to comment

Cold wet track due to lack of use..... 20-30 minutes before any car got on the track.....started to rain....... Torquey 2.2 and no rear suspension.........(this is why I've always felt it was a little sketch) .....and I crossed the damn line again.... :lol: ....yet they still never said shit..... ...after I took out all the boring stuff.... (me limping around the track becuz I had "mud in the tire"...... .......entering the paddock before seeing the steward..... ............washing the mud off me shit..... ...............and getting the lecture from the steward...... ....................then...hesitating the first lap back because my rear suspension sucks a dirty whores ass...) That Z at 7:00 minutes in looks fast!!! Blake, where's your video? I only got one video on my phone of the session that was cut short by the Camaro, but I will post it soon.
