BajaScout
Are the exhaust/intake manifold gaskets available anywhere for a 65 Datsun 320 pickup? Quote Link to comment
KawiF3v3r
EBay, look for a j13. Not 100% sure about fitment cuz I have yet to try it but from the research I've done, it's interchangeable with the e1 Quote Link to comment
BajaScout
I will give it a try. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
BajaScout
Nothing on ebay, but I am reading an early MGB gasket may work: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/6785-e1j13-interchangeability-with-mgnash-parts/ Available at NAPA http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Manifold-Gasket-Set-Combination-Intake-Exhaust-/_/R-FPBMS22506B_0436477448 Anyone done this before? datsunaholic
MGB manifold gasket up to the early 70s is exactly the same as the E1 and J13-J15-J16. 2 Quote Link to comment
Conner
Here is the J13 gasket on my E1 exhaust and intake manifold assembly: This is the J13 gasket and a British MGA/MGB gasket from Moss Motors: The MG gasket is a perfect fit, as stated above. This gasket is Moss Motors part #297-535 and looks like it is around $9 now. http://www.mossmotors.com/graphics/products/PDF/297-535.pdf 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Great information thank you for sharing. The gasket from Moss Motors looks to be of much higher quality. Here is the link to the actual page. http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=82220 I hope that Datsunaholic and Conner do mot mind as I copied this information to the Ratsun Truck 520 J13 Engine Aftermarket Parts Post. BajaScout
Excellent info. Any idea where to get the split exhaust flange? I am guessing any 1.5 inch split flange would work. Also need the pipe flange to weld on to the exhaust. What paint did you use to paint the intake and exhaust? Looks nice. Found these flange on the Moss site: http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=65690 May need to grind off the lip on the exhaust manifold. Quote Link to comment

I used Datsun engine blue on a bunch of my engine bits including the intake manifold. Someone with a very clean engine still had theirs painted so I believe that's how they came from the factory. I don't remember exactly where I got it but a handful of Datsun vendors carry it in spray cans. For the exhaust manifold I used an Eastwood cast-iron look paint that is high temp tolerant, designed for exhaust manifolds. I had half a can left over from my roadster. I agree the Moss intake/exhaust gasket is much better than the one that came with the Victor Reinz J13 gasket set. I will use the Moss one on my truck. There are a bunch of gaskets and I'm not sure which you mean when you ask about those flanges. There is a gasket that goes on top of the intake manifold under the carburetor. There is also a hot spot gasket that goes between the intake and exhaust manifolds. I got all of these and more when I bought a head gasket kit for a J13 engine. The part number is Victor Reinz HS3597 but I'm not sure how available they are anymore. I got mine from Rockauto a year or two ago and Rockauto doesn't list them in stock anymore. MG parts may substitute for these gaskets but I haven't proven which parts if any do. Quote Link to comment
BajaScout
I am looking for the clamp that connects the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. The clamp is pictured in this ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261654998359?item=261654998359&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:SS:SS:US:3160&vxp=mtr Quote Link to comment
66Fairlady
I would advise using a J13 exhaust manifold instead of modifying the E1 manifold. The J13 manifold comes with a "real" flange to the exhaust pipe. It is claimed that most of the extra J13 7 HP comes from the better flowing manifold. Ted. Quote Link to comment
KawiF3v3r
So the j13 manifold can be used on an e1? No fitment issues with it hitting anything? Quote Link to comment
BajaScout
Interesting. What years came with a j13? Quote Link to comment
wayno
All the way to the 69 Datsun 521. Quote Link to comment
