datzenmike
Yes, all '66-'69 520 and L521s came with H-190 4.875 differential ratios in them. The third member case was aluminum also. The '73-'74 620 automatic had 4.625 H-190s. All 521 and 620s had 4.375s except the '79 4 and 5 speeds which were 4.11s Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
So my h190 in my 72 521 is 4.375 and I did this once before ,I think it was a 1985 720 pumpkin I used and was 3.90s in my 521 , when do the H190 axle splines change ,also 510 wagon ,311 is different ,right ? wayno
There are a lot of H190s in Datsun cars and trucks, for the most part the only difference is the side gears, which can be changed out to fit the axle in your rig/vehicle. The 320 had 488 gears, but it's axles were different from the 488 gear 520/521/620/720 axles, so when I want better gearing in my 320 I use a 720 rear pumpkin with 390 gears out of a 720, and I put the side gears in the 488 320 gearset into the 720 gearset, and I have 390 gears for my 320. The drag race and circle track guys like the 488 gears. What exactly are you wanting these 488 gears for, 320, 520, 521, ect? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Cars Roadster/510/810 and Maxima are generally 23 spline axles. Most 521/620/720/D21 trucks are 29 spline. Earlier 320 and 'others' are 13 spline Quote Link to comment
