deerio
I'm having a bitch of a time removing my brake adjusters for an overhaul... Any tips???I managed to get one of them off but I honestly don't know what I did that even allowed me to remove the retaining plates. I'm sure it's a lot more simple than I'm making it out to be. Can someone provide a step by step maybe? Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
It just might help if you told the forum what vehicle you are bitching about! Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Are these the funny looking U shaped clips? If so they interlock and clip together. See if you can depress the tabs on the bottom one so the top can be tapped back and off. Quote Link to comment
deerio
Yep those are it Mike. That's kinda what I did for the passenger rear side that I was successful with but it just seemed a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. But then again I guess that means they're serving their purpose. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes they are slightly curved and springy. When assembled they snap together. I think my 710 has them on the backs. It holds the adjuster but allows it to slide to center itself. Do you still have the oval rubber covers? I assume the L320 has them. My trucks in the past were lost or rubbed off mudding. Without them all manner of mud and salty water gets in and corrodes everything. Quote Link to comment
deerio
The rubber covers have been long gone. I don't believe the previous two owners had them either. The one I managed to remove so far seems to be in decent condition with no corrosion at all. I've cleaned it up and used a hefty amount of anti-seize so now they're ready to replace back onto the backing plate. Gonna try to work on the other ones as soon I get some free time.
