djlotus
the oil pans from the ka powered trucks are rear sump Quote Link to comment
damon
do the truck rear sump pans clear stock steering? I have seen custom rear sump pans made. Micah did it on a KA24de a couple of years ago. Damon Quote Link to comment

Duke
do the truck rear sump pans clear stock steering? i'de love to know that :] No they do not. They nee to be notched to clear the steering arm. Well, this is what I have heard. The rear sump pan the I made was for a car KA, so I pretty much had to make the whole thing. Its not quite as easy as it sounds though, I have quite a few hours of fab time into the pan, and I'm not quite done yet. Quote Link to comment

You should start building them and selling them :D Quote Link to comment
hang_510
No they do not. They neeD to be notched to clear the steering arm. Well, this is what I have heard. would the datsport set up clear a stock pan? the center link looks a bit straighter. (maybe it creaters more interference???) Quote Link to comment
edakotaford
okay, so if i found myself an oil pan from a KA truck, about how far would it need to be notched? and would i just get someone {or do myself} to reweld the notch shut? will that hold up alright while driving? Duke
If you are using a KA out of a 240sx, then the truck pan will NOT fit. The truck pan only fits the truck block and the car pan only fits the car block. But if you do have a truck KA, notching it and rewelding it is a fine thing to do. And in regards to the datsport kit making things better, I would say that it would make it worse. Quote Link to comment
slodat
And in regards to the datsport kit making things better, I would say that it would make it worse. Care to elaborate? Quote Link to comment
nismopu
ummm, FIRST which KA are we talking about? There's two car KA's one of which shares nothing with the other except internals. It hasn't been mentioned once which KA he has. So, if its a KA24DE from a car it has to be a completely custom pan. A truck pan will not work at all on car ka24de, however a car ka24e will accept a truck pan with a lil mods. If you have a KA24de from a car you might as well keep it front sump and run a custom crossmember. FivenDime makes one thats pretty bad ass or you can sweet talk Duke into making a pan like his I bet and keep the stock crossmember. peace. Quote Link to comment
Duke
Care to elaborate? The question was about using the straight center link out of the datsport kit, not the whole thing. If you look at what you have to cut to fit a rear sump KA, removing the bend in the center link would make that cut be larger. Quote Link to comment
