skyblue
Sup gang. Recently acquired a z with the gf. The story goes like this,I had made a deal to buy a 2dr 510. But, the seller sold it from under me. Like a bitch. So, I was pretty bummed about that the next day. The gf saw me all sad and on her own found a z on eBay that was a pretty good deal. So she bid on it, not really expecting to win, but she won! The only rub was that the car was in NY. And we are in CA. But we figured it out and finally have her in the garage.I knew she was going to be rusty, coming from the east coast. But it's a bit worse than I thought. But, I will let you be the judge. On with pics.Ebay Ad picsGetting picked up at sellers house.Getting delivered this morning 5 Quote Link to comment

hobospyder
I'm still jealous even if she is a bit rusty and in need of some new upholstery Quote Link to comment

Chuck Most
Looks like she's in pretty good shape to me. Grain of salt... I'm from Michigan, so my definition of "rusty" and yours may differ vastly. Still looks to be very worthy of a little love. Quote Link to comment
skyblue
All safe and sound in the garage. The cancer Frame rails. How 'bout now Chuck? Quote Link to comment
Chuck Most
How 'bout now Chuck? I've seen worse, but a few of them still ended up as nicely restored/modified cars. The underside and trunk area do look kind of scary, though. Quote Link to comment

r0p0doe
who did you use to do the shipping? I need to ship a west coast car out east. x2, well I may get one shipped to Cali but I'd like some info... Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Lol. Thanks for the compliments. Sincere and backhanded ones. The shipping company we used was DAS. Pricey but dependable. The priceyness was from it not running. Otherwise, very competitive pricing. Plans are to get the brakes working. We had an almost disaster getting her into the garage. Then fix the rot. Specifically the frame rails/floor pans. And then to the engine and tranny. But it will be a slow going project. With 3 Datsuns they're all fighting for attention. Lol 1 Quote Link to comment
FirstDime
glad to see it home safe and sound, 3 Datsuns is def a handful     at least by the end of this car you will be a pro at rust repair, welding and body work    1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
I'd still drive and love the beast. But I think restoring is not a reasonable process anymore. Rust has claimed her. Maybe go mad max with this? 1 Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
Maybe buy another shell for donor or swap parts to ,we live here where cars do not get that corroided rust that bad , hate to try and weld it acts like a cutting torch when mig strikes an arc on salted oxidized rust type 1 Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
Now that would be funny to see the look on the freeway clean up crew that finds the bumper with that written on it. too soon? 4 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
You being in California, might I ask what made you look to the East Coast for Z? I always hear it being the other way around. A lot more early Z's were sold West Coast too. I agree with the above advise of looking for another shell. Wish you the best with it though. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
He said his girl found it and was bidding on it.. though well intentioned, she probably didn't think of that. 1 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Yes. She meant well. And just got caught up with the allure of winning. Had I known she was gonna bid I probly would have advised against it. But, what's done is done. And we can only look forward. So now we will do what we can with this poor neglected z. 2 Quote Link to comment
