VFR800 Posted May 3, 2020 Report Share Posted May 3, 2020 The first two Short Sunderland flying boats for the RAAF from Britain arrive over Sydney harbour in 1944. The red dot in the roundels would have been quickly painted out to avoid confusion with trigger happy pilots. These aircraft were known as the "flying porcupine" as they bristled with guns.
