It needs to come back home.

The sad fact is that the fresh water Lake Tahoe has probably done more to preserve the launch than any further exposure to salt water would be possible to preserve in Pearl Harbor.  No ship worms in fresh water. The only "home" base I could see would be in Phoenix Arizona on display in an appropriate museum or afloat on Lake Roosevelt.  I seem to recall a model of the USS Phoenix on display in one of the many terminals at the Phoenix airport all too many years ago!  BTW, I mentioned the existance of this craft to the Pearl Harbor Survivors site many years ago but never got any reply.  Must be a dormant site or the SYSOP didn't realize just what I had posted was a relevant item.

Those fixtures like the one in this image are amazingly expensive!!!

Just this one can run as high as $37,000.00

Any thing with the title Aero, or Space, the price automatically goes way up.  When I was an owner-operator hauling specialized equipment, the rates for transporting anything for aircraft was way higher than anything else. I used to haul GE engines to Boeing, and MD, also hauled used engines for UAL to San Francisco to be rebuilt. One time I had a load of aircraft seats that only weighed 17000 lbs. and it payed more than double what a 40000 lb load of anything else would.
