DaBlist
ET05 front and rear, here is where raising the front crossmember is starting to pay off. With the front tire tucked like this there is 4.5 inches of clearance under the crossmember. Once the tire flattens out under load I'm guessing still 4". Yes that fender is junk, another nice set came with the car 2 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
And I like your wheel storage solution! There is a bunch of bike hooks in the ceiling so I made use of them 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
How did you cut the welds in those rims without cutting too deep and damaging the barrel? Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
How did you cut the welds in those rims without cutting too deep and damaging the barrel? I used a thin 4" cut off wheel and did cut into the barrels some but not through. I will weld those areas up. Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
I got schooled for calling this a crossmember so I picked up another rear "subframe" and cut off the ends to use for repositioning the rear trailing arms. Shouldn't flex and twist which I think would have been a problem if I tried to work with what I had tacked together. When cut off wheels and band saws wont do a sawzall is your best friend. 2 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
I got schooled for calling this a crossmember so I picked up another rear "subframe" Does it stiffen the car? Or just mount the control arms? Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Does it stiffen the car? Or just mount the control arms? Mounts the trailing arms and third member. No real bracing or tying points together Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Found a picture of one with a good stance that has the fender off. Shows how close the front tire is to that inner fender sheet metal piece I need to trim. Hope this car gets finished 2 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Mounts the trailing arms and third member. No real bracing or tying points together Then IMO it's a crossmember, not a subframe. I think you were right the first time. B) But you know how pedantic BMW guys are... Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
Damn that thing is awesome. Thanks for the extra pics. I might have to try building one one day. Then all I would need is a bare rim hoop in each diameter... Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
that looks sick!!! how do you reweld the wheels to be true? Carefully The centers are a tight press fit so I tap them around until I'm happy with offset and run-out. Then weld on the highest setting 1 Quote Link to comment
