flatcat19
^ That. And you don't have to remove master to adjust pedal push rod. It's under the dash, connected to the pedal. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Sounds like the pressure is not fully released when you let off the brake. This can happen when the master can't return fully to it's rest position. Push down on the brake peddle with your thumb. There should be about 1/16" of free travel before there is stronger resistance. Does it have this play? .....I did the brake pedal test, and there is a little play before it gets stiff, but not much, maybe half of a inch... that was one of the things my shop mentioned was how stiff the brake pedal was.. but they said calipers were working fine.... If you did this then 1/2" is way pleanty. Usually a few 16ths Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
Sometimes bad hoses cause brake drag also , I have seen people replace calipers before hoses and repeat prob. cause they expand before they flow . Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The brake peddle may return yet the piston in the master bore may stick and not. I've pulled lots of masters apart and the inside ends are always corroded and rusty. Quote Link to comment
blackbomber
hey mike, I got the master cylinder off, and screwed in the output rod on the brake booster.. major reduction in heat on the rotors...good news.....what does the check valve do exactly that runs from the manifold to the brake booster..should I replace it or not worry about it.... ps that 74 710 you have. is that a pickup...
