DatMo
Did you actually pay much for that L20b? That valve cover isnt too common... no I didn't pay much at all. I just like it a lot. And he gave me a 5 speed and bunch of other things. I just need to replace some stuff. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Yeesss that valve cover indeed.... And that many is probably for a 1600 just not the L series, does he even know that they made other datsun engines? Quote Link to comment

I've never had to really deal with them so I never really read up on em or anything Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Wow, yeah, that's way off definitely not for an L series maybe R or A though. Not an A-series. Carb spacing looks way too wide. Doesn't look like an R-16 intake either... Note how my carbs on my A15 are about 1mm apart. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Well, early round port A12 intake: So it may be for an early A-series... Those carbs looks impossibly tiny also, nothing like regular Mikuni PHH carbs... Quote Link to comment
DatMo
Well either way, I just want what I was promised but looks like it's not happening. I'll just save up for now and buy mikuni's soon enough. Either way, I'm excited. Quote Link to comment
DatMo
Picked up dellorto carbs today. Just need a mani and some stacks. Also buying new parts all around for the engine. It's suppose to have 54k original miles and came out off a show car that was frequently started. I'm still undecisive if I should do the timing chain. Quote Link to comment

DatMo
Going to rebuild and tune the carbs yourself? Yeah. What else would i do? I'm broke as shit. haha. still need to get a mani and i need a few hundred to finish up the engine. think a timing chain change is worth it? Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
How old does the chain look? If you figure it's factory I would change it Quote Link to comment
q-tip
If the engine only has 54k on it the chain should be fine. But changeling it now would mean you won't have to for a long time Quote Link to comment
DatMo
How old does the chain look? If you figure it's factory I would change it I think I just might. It'll only be beneficial. I just need new gaskets everywhere around the car. If the engine only has 54k on it the chain should be fine. But changeling it now would mean you won't have to for a long time good point. I'm just gonna do it and get it done with. I'm not sure what to buy. I think u95 came out of a 610 so I'll just look up a timing chain for that on rock auto. Quote Link to comment
DatMo
So the item can be returned after troubles through ebay but the item was damaged so it may take longer. I bought my manifold for the dellortos. I also bought some parts to finish up the engine but I'll be buying more next week to completely finish off the engine. Also HOPEFULLY picking up some wheels in about two weeks. Quote Link to comment

DatMo
So i bought a strut bar, I'm just looking for some l16 engine mounts to bolt the l20 in. Also need tie rods but can't seem to find any. I'm so close to being done with suspension yet so far.... I just need some damn 280zx hubs... and it should be pretty much done. I'm prepping for painting the bay. Also want a rpero grille really fucking bad for the wagon so I'm keeping money aside for it. Quote Link to comment
shacks510
I'm broke as shit. I think that's the Ratsun slogan. 1 Quote Link to comment

DatMo
I picked up a set of 13's. I plan to grind off some of the calipers so they fit on the 280zx struts. Really excited. I think it's gonna look sweet. can't tell ya what wheels but they are hayashis. :) I was tempted to get some reps of ccw's but I figured I might as well get something authentic. Quote Link to comment
DatMo
Well.... 13x7's that I really like. Do you guys think white would be too hard of an engine bay to maintain clean? 1 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Nice score. A white engine bay is a clean look but it has to be maintained, especially if it isn't the body color, looks dirty fast. Quote Link to comment

I'm looking for a color and thought white would look super clean with the look I'm going for but I'm not sure if I'd be able to do it. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
White is the best engine bay color. There's a reason most race cars sport them. Leaks are instantly noticeable (as are cracks). 1 Quote Link to comment
