Naive is an understatement if you think honesty is how you succeed in business.

Success comes from making money by any means possible, including lying, cheating, steeling, and stabbing each other in the back. If you can make a profit by what ever means, people will line up to stuff their money in your packets to get in on the deal. That's not to say there aren't honest business people, but greed creates a unique form of selective blindness.

"Behind every great fortune lies a great crime." Honore de Balzac, 1832

Trump's success in business and politics is all about manufacturing an image of success rather than demonstrating a record of success. For 40 years I've watched Trump craft his BS public image. I watched his dog and pony sale pitch taking the Atlantic City development project to a publicly traded company. Because it went public we can see exactly what happened. From its IPO in 1995 through two separate bankruptcies in 2004 and 2009, he never made a fucking dime of profit. Trump Hotels tanked reorganized and became Trump Entertainment. Five years later that tanked, and his investors lost EVERYTHING. Year after year it's profits were canceled out by massive debt. Over the 15 years Trump served as chairman, the casino company posted net losses totaling nearly $1.7 billion.

Other massive failures were Trump Airlines, American Football League, Trump U, Trump magazine, Trump Mortgage, "Trump Tycoon" mobile app... I know, can you believe that app actually failed. So how does he deserve the reputation as a successful businessman? Keeping his tax returns private.

Your first sentence tells me you don't know shit about business and how it works.Your last sentence is exactly what i was talking about in a previous post.Same old re-run shit.

John, you really need to read about the industrial times, specially how the railroad business, oil and auto came about, exploitation of resources, manipulation, lying, under paying your workers. I'm sure that there are some honest business operations out there but they are few as there are few honest politicians. Bottom line its all about greed, making money, power and keeping that power.

Thanks but i'm well aware of what happened 100 years ago with the industrial revolution..I'm also sure there are some good honest businesses being run in this country. If it were as corrupt as some think it is we would be a 3rd world nation. To assume most businesses are corrupt is just out there. In my opinion.

A business, privately or publicly owned, knows no other thing than to make bottom line profit and self perpetuate itself. In that it's like a virus. It may work honestly within the constraints of laws and public pinion if it is to it's advantage to do so, many will even devote some profit to lobbying and public relations and in order to maximize it's profit advantage over competitors and polish it's image. Survival of the fittest. It would be bad enough to be head of a private or family owned business who has the responsibility for their financial survival in the future but a public owned business with stockholders screaming for profit must be hell for the CEO. The pressure to make a profit is immense and any failure and you're gone. Perfect job if you are a sociopath.

Damn few businesses would survive close scrutiny of it's business practices for long.

Being a good liar is a significant business advantage.

A compulsive liar would sink a business, but to vie dishonestly will statistically serve a business.

Poker is actually an apt example. Honest poker players don't lose often, but they win little making their smaller losses sink their stock.

Shkreli, raised an aids pill by 5,000 %. He is the epitome of greed run amok.

Now in jail early for offering a reward for strands of Hillary Clinton's hair. What an idiot to do that.He was out on bail pending sentence and had bail revoked due to the threat. The guy clearly has something wrong with him and it isn't just greed.

Yeah, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to that stuff, so please tell me how business works John. Tell me how companies never steel from each other, how they never profit from nepotism or inside information, how they never manipulate or circumvent laws & regulations governing markets, never sell investors a story they know it's not true, never put money in a politician's pockets to get a government contract or favorable legislation, how companies always tell the public the truth about their products, how businessmen don't undermine their peers and competitors, and would never take advantage of another person's weakness. My younger brother is a Harvard Business School graduate, has started two hedge funds and working on a third, My Dad is a retired real estate broker/developer in Souther California, but maybe they gave me shitty information. Please tell us all about how honest business is...

Yeah, I have a hard time just moving on when it comes to Trump's tax returns, because it's the only thing that can confirm his personal financial and business history. It might just be paranoia, but I have a sinking suspicion he's hiding something. Tell me John, would Americans have elected Trump if we saw his tax returns? I know your answer, and yet his reputation as a businessman is his only credentials. Tell me how you have so much blind faith in a man like that?

The choice was easy.

Trump or Clinton.

The same goes for any discussion about honesty.

I'm going ot have to call absolute Bull Shit on that one. It would be a lot easier to believe if you guys weren't championing him as the second coming of Christ.

There was also countless hours of hard work. Sucks it was outshined by some unfortunate miss steps. But it was..

I don't think i've seen any posts claiming Trump is the 2nd coming of Christ..If i did please point it out.Something i find odd about the Trump haters is they usually complain about the "establishment" and how we need to clean up politics and change the status quo.A guy that had no political experience gets elected, wants to make serious changes to the way things have been and it's still not good enough.Haters gonna hate, what can ya do ?

I'm not seeing this either, but then again I'm not a trump fan. It was simply accepting a much lesser evil.

If Trumpcheeto was not so contemptuous, he would not be derailed by the media or be clowned by people. He just reminds me of someone who is spoiled rotten, always got his way and never admit any wrongdoing...wait a minute Affluenza.

I'm not. But he is pretty hilarious and it's fun to watch the whackjob liberals squirm

Funny until we get into a trade war with China and our economy tanks. Funny until we start a joint war with Israel against Iran (for no reason other than to appease our slave owner, Israel). Funny until we start a war with North Korea and a Proxy war with Russia and China.

Pretty funny stuff. I can't wait.
