earlyvws
Saved the front hood. This is a test fit. It needs to come back off so I can glue the supports and at least paint some black on the backside. The lower apron is really nice. Wish I could use this one on the 69. I'm 3 for 3 on trucks missing prop rod. But this time I have the spring and the bracket is still on the hood. I looked for one at the swap but didn't find one. Took some pics of some in 510 and made one. Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Here is a prop rod listed on ebay. I have personally bought parts from Yenpit and have had good experience. He is a Ratsun member so contact through Ratsun and save some time maybe. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-1300-520-pickup-hood-prop-rod-spring-NICE-USED-/111394445661?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19efa0595d Quote Link to comment

Jay has a lot of good shit also, but he wants a lot of money for his stuff, but it is all NOS. Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
So You got the tail lights I was trying to buy too late! LOL This will be a sweet build as all the builds you do!!!. If you need another match box for a 4 cylinder L motor let me know I have a couple that are nice and tight. 2 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
That is ok at least the tail lights went to a good home. Your trucks come out so clean. Keep up the good work. Quote Link to comment

Thankyou for offering Charlie, I have several matchbox distributors in my extra parts I have collected over the years. I bought the taillights because they were complete taillight housings, the ones I have now are modified with Ford Pinto bulb housings screwed in, so when I seen them I made a deal with him, you see I will not bid on taillight housings separately, I buy them as sets, or I don't bid on them at all, the fronts had bids on them, the rear taillights had no bids at all, I actually made an offer on the fronts and the backs, but someone bid on the fronts by the time he had gotten back to me. So I have a question Charlie, do you have taillight housings, or are you without any? Quote Link to comment
earlyvws
It all makes sense now. Wayno bought the tail lights. I was wondering why u get using plural! Quote Link to comment
earlyvws
Tonight I worked on stuff for both trucks. Switched in some Bosch Mercedes fog lights. Had to make new notches in the bucket. I don't know if I like them. They looked great until I put the grill and surrounds back on. Now I think it looks a little weird. Leave them for now make a decision at the end after everything starts tying the look together. Started mocking up the exhaust. I've had 4 Hayabusa exhaust for years. So keeping with the goal of using up parts I already have I'm going to run these until either the sound isn't right or it sucks on performance. Quote Link to comment
datson4life
Just careful, mine is Kinda like that and melted some plastic from reverse light area 1 Quote Link to comment
earlyvws
I thought about trying to make a heat shield that protects the tail light but can't be seen. It is a theory right now don't know how I'm going to do it yet. 2 Quote Link to comment

earlyvws
I like quite too. I'm kind of hoping this will be quite. But we will see. I'm just to curious not to try. I've been storing them I think 4 years. It's either use it now or get rid of them. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I seen some quietr type on the Walker site or 3 CHAMBER TURBO . type. just upsize the pipe diam. als I think this truck would look best with the stock wheels painted white and small whitewall. Would enhance the wht strip on side of truck. PS I like the yellow lamps That 510blu ia pimpn also 1 Quote Link to comment
earlyvws
Busy doing little things like cleaning lights welding in exhaust, stripping peeping and painting wheels working on dash pad etc. nothing worth posting pics of till now. Got these Toyota 4runner rims. 16x7 unknown offset. But they fit great. Only need a 1/4" spacer in the front so the center cap will snap on. Working on disk brakes so I'm hoping the rotors will be enough of a spacer. The center caps had almost no paint on them so I did a color change. Was going to powder coat but I didn't feel comfortable with matching the center caps. Powder guy says he has a trick to do it. Also 2 rims really did look that great after cleaning. Going to try to get at least the front disk brakes done this weekend as well as recovering the dash pad and working out the stance. Gonna see if a 4x4 store might have the 4" blocks I can't seem to find anywhere else. Quote Link to comment
wayno
Don't use 4 inch blocks, find some Datsun/Nissan 720 4X4 leafs and install them, that's a one and a half inch drop right there, then decide how much more you need to drop it, you might only need 2 inch blocks then. 4 inch blocks create issues with the lower shock mounts hitting the ground if you get a flat. earlyvws
Oh great. I couldn't find those the last time I looked for them. I will start looking again. Quote Link to comment
wayno
Oh great. I couldn't find those the last time I looked for them. I will start looking again. Maybe not with 16 inch rims, I should have looked at the rim size before making that comment. 4 inch blocks with stock 14 inch rims puts the lower shock mount very close to the ground, I found a different lower mount for my rig, but I am still only using about 2 inch blocks with 4X4 leafs, but I also made a bunch of other mods to drop the rear, like roadster shackle mounts. earlyvws
Dash pad was in bad shape. Someone tried recovering before and they removed most of the original foam. So I decided it wasn't worth sending out to recover. Made a metal cover and was going to have it powder coated but my powder guy was going to be gone till Wednesday so I decided to cover it myself. Came out ok but I'm going to look for another to recover later. 1 Quote Link to comment
