CicliDevotion
My newly aquired 720 sounds like it's going to rattle to pieces whenever I drive over a bump and the windows are down (partially or fully). Seems like I need to get new window channel felt or rubber. Can anyone suggest a source for it? Any info on the install process? I've never done anything of the sort and I'm wondering if this type of thing is best left up to a pro... If so, anyone have a shop to recommend in Los Angeles? 2 Quote Link to comment

Omelet720
There is a felt like insert that was installed in the forward window guide inside of the door. It seems like it always falls out, as every 720 door I've looked in has that little felt sitting inside the bottom of the door... 2 Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
It's not hard at all. Just get and Upholstery tool at your local parts store and pull the door panels off. Each panel should consist of about 10 clips around the edge of the panel. After you pull the panel off I just unscrewed the window with 10mm ratchet and socket and slide the felt back on. Then just reverse your steps and viola. I haven't done it myself but my dad had the same problem cause his window wasn't lining up when he rolled it up. 1 Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
It's so simple... upholstery tool, door panels off... blah blah!. I think everyone knows how to remove a damned door panel! NO SH*T SHERLOCK... I think everyone knows how to remove a damned door panel! SHEESH! But what if the felt/fur weatherstripping is gone like mine is? It has been dryrotted away a long time ago. I have the sail pieces, but once the window is down slightly, it rattles. The fur weatherstripping is gone on both sides is gone on the passenger door, and one side on driver door. What has anyone else done for replacement? 1 Quote Link to comment
_chiefjt
Well CicliDevotion thinks he needs a pro to do it. Sheesh :fu: I know errbody else here can do it. lol Idk about replacing them, my dad just went to pic a part and pulled one off a 720 that still had it so. Idk, just look up window felt on eBay or something and see what will work. 2 Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
I said "I'm wondering *if* I need a pro"! Sounds like I don't. Guam671's post was helpful to a noob like me. Ima give it a shot... 1 Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
The felt for the inside of the door or around the top can both found at the Nissan dealership, but are astronomically expensive for such a part... 1 Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
Another option is to break the window, no glass, no rattle  1 Quote Link to comment
hang_510
if its like a 510, square/3section with felt, its avail on ebay and does 2 doors. makes such a difference 1 Quote Link to comment
NissanEgg
The felt for the inside of the door or around the top can both found at the Nissan dealership, but are astronomically expensive for such a part... The front lower felt pieces are NLA ( no longer available) from Nissan. The one that runs around the rest of the window are still available. I just bought some for mine several month ago. If you have connections from Nissan you can get them for a lot cheaper than full retail. Just need to figure out something for the lower front parts to stop mine from rattling. 1 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
This is a cross section of some window run channel I am using in a 521 door. It is about 9/16 or 5/8 wide, and about a 1/2 inch deep. It comes from Mygrant Glass, and this is the part number. This is what I used to glue it in. 2 Quote Link to comment
NissanEgg
Question is does that fit in the 720 channel? 1 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I have 521 trucks, so I do not know. What are the dimensions of the groove the run channel fits in to on a 720? 1 Quote Link to comment
nissan720
i used some felt channel parts from a 5002 frontier 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
They are available on ebay. You want the long ones as the US 720s do not have wing windows. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Weatherstrip-Long-Window-Glass-Door-Belt-Rubber-for-Nissan-Datsun-720-Pickup-UTE/273121062297?hash=item3f9748ad99:g:xLIAAOSwScJa5pQJ 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Old post but I need to do my felts bad. Anyone use the Thailand ebay ones? I have not had good luck with the Thailand stuff before but that seems to be all that is available. 1 Quote Link to comment
Seven Two Oh No
As an alternative to buying new felts, I fixed the window rattle in my 85 by gluing in a length of 1/2-inch OD vinyl tubing into the channel, then tracing and and cutting out a 1/8 to 3/16-inch strip down the middle to act as a guide for the glass. Been working great for me for the past few months I've had it in, and beats paying for those felts. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
I ordered the felts. They are at home but I won't be there for about a month. Will keep posted after the installation. 1 Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
Bumping this thread again, as I have another truck in need of replacement felts. Anybody here have luck with the eBay ones from Thailand? 1 Quote Link to comment
powderfinger
I used a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet on mine. Cut a strip, folded it and wedged in into the window channel. Works perfect and I already had it laying around the house. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Sorry I never replied. I got the ebay ones and they made a world of difference. Mine used to rattle so bad underway with the windows down I thought it would break the glass. As usual things aren't perfect and there is a lot of resistance on the bottom 3 inches. I could possibly get into the door and loosen things up but it is so much better I just roll as is Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Put a paper match or thin cardboard shim between the existing window felt strip and the structure. It works. 1 Quote Link to comment
