Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

Bonjour, tout le monde!

Now then. Some of you may have seen this on other forums (sorry if you're bored of it already) but for those who haven't, and are interested in this kind of thing, allow me to introduce my Nissan Bluebird SSS Coupe.

ETA to land in the UK is mid/late July, hopefully I'll be able to go back to the UK then (I'll be working in Breckenridge, Colorado first 2-3 weeks of July)

Deliberately I've missed out the engine, it should be an L18 'race' engine, but I won't know this until I get it home and get it apart, sadly the intake manifold and carbs, along with the exhaust manifold have been removed but they did leave the cool side exit muffler.

The story goes, this car has always been a race car, looked after by Refresh60 and left unloved for a number of years down at City Auto before I persuaded him to sell it to me (oddly, I was trying to buy his Mazda Savanna off him)

A few areas of concern on the body, could be poor paint (the hood looks rusty from the pictures but being FRP it's clearly poor paint) but I'm prepared for the worst. I have a long journey ahead of me

Cordialement,

RW

Thanks for the welcome guys. The car was built in Japan, Refresh60 have had it a few times in their garage, they said for as long as they've known it, it's been a race car but it was 'retired' about 14 years ago!

I picked it up from City Auto, I was shopping for a Capella or Savanna coupe (they have both in stock) when I saw this in the corner of one of their garages and had to have it. It's perfect in every way!

I'm getting the car shipped to the UK, it's cheaper for tax to import their and we can't modify cars in France legally, I couldnt re-register my JDM WRX STI V2 when I moved here, luckily a guy in Switzerland took it off my hands, I now roll in a French VW Caddy van.

I'm originally from that little island north of France that was once Great Britain, I plan to return to the mother land in about 12 months time, so I'll get this shipped to a friends garage who's agreed to store it until I return.

The plan is to fix what needs fixing (it's missing the carbs, intake manifold and exhaust manifold) and it was also run without an alternator or radiator fan (because race car) and from what I can tell, no indicators either.

It won't take much to make this road legal in the UK because of its age, so once it's up and running and if the body isnt too rusty under that paint, I'll get it registered and have it as a road legal track car.

This is my 3rd Nissan. The other 2 we're an SR20 180SX and an SR20 Silvia K's

Japanese plate isnt the original, it's an original Japanese plate I got off eBay about 10 years ago and have had it on all my JDM Imported cars (about 15 of them now)

The rest of the imports were a bunch of FD RX7s (7 in total) 2 DC2 ITRs, 1 WRX STI, 1 CRX, 1 EG6, 2 Daihatsu Charde GTti and an SW20 MR2 Turbo.

Just living life bumming about in the mountains at the moment, riding DH bikes and snowboarding, semi retirement style @30. But got to return to get a 'proper job' and 'grow up' according to missus RW so the Bluebird Coupe was a treat to lessen the blow of returning to Little Britain.

Hope fully I'll have some updates soon, but it'll be a long slow process.

The car is still on the boat. 18 days ish left to go. I'll be driving back to the UK around the beginning of August to inspect it with my own eyes finally.

I've had (well, maybe) an interesting development. On the roof of my car were the initials M.O. I guessed it was the last guy to own/race the car, I had a message on another forum saying that M.O is Masato OBATA, the boss of Refresh60.

It might be a big leap, but my mate Teruhisa who lives in Tokyo said he'd give them a call and inquire.

Also Refresh60 stickers on the rear 1/4 windows.

Hopefully I'll know more soon. I'm actually excited for the first time since I left the UK to go back, even if it is only to see my car and pull it apart to see what I've actually purchased.

The car has been in the UK for a few weeks now. I'm still enjoying life in the French alps, still rather look out my window at Mt Blanc than a rusty old Nissan. 2 months and I'll be back and get to see it with my own eyes, but for now, pictures are the best I can do:

Tucked away in its temp home for now.
