datsunfreak
I'm looking for books on the engine. Are we talking rebuild or hot rod? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Rebuild, you need a FSM, or a plain old Haynes will do. Thankfully it's one of the most basic engines ever designed. As for a good hot rod book, I've never seen one. I'm lucky to have a machinist local to me that has been building hot rod A-series heads for 30+ years so he did mine. I'll ask around and see if anyone knows any good books on it. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I wonder if books on modifying the BMC A-series engine would be any help? Similar design... Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, that book is heavy on theory and carries over. Quote Link to comment
scooter stuff
If you doing a rebuild why not build an A14 or an A15? Quote Link to comment
Draker
Izzo had an A15 for free. But now it's gone to nanner. Quote Link to comment
scooter stuff
They can still be found dirt cheap. GreenHill probably has a few 210's. Quote Link to comment
scooter stuff
finding the A series 5 speed is the hard part. British car guy will pay 5 bills for a rebuildable core. The last 2 that i had sold on EBAY for $400 each. It was almost 15 years ago. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
There is one for sale now on Datsun1200.com classifieds. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, 5-speeds are readily available. Never seen a time when there wasn't a couple for sale. $300 is affordable too. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Yeah, banner had the strong 5 speed for sale for 3 bones... It was the best deal I've seen on one ever Quote Link to comment
