brandon.colin Posted March 29, 2014 Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 I have a 510 1971 dastsun 510 wagon and I have a VG30e from a 1984 300zx and I would like to swap the VG30E into my 510. can Ii have a list of parts that I need to help with the swap and if I need to change the cross members and if there is a wiring chart that will help with the wiring. and if I need to do any special modifications that will need to be done. thank you Quote Link to comment

Search the project datto section. It's been done a few times now. If you read through the build threads, you can pick out what you want to copy, and learn the problems others ran into. KlassicMotion Posted March 29, 2014 Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 If you use the search bar and type in "vg 510" or something similar, you will find a lot of info. You will need to decide if you want run fuel injection or carburetor. Everything you need for the swap can be bought from David Caroll at VG30.com, or if that site is still down, find him on the 510 registry on FB. He sells a converted oil pan, carbureted intake manifold, engine mounts, trans mount, headers, and radiator. In addition, you will need the 5spd from a 300zx (1984-1989 non-turbo preferred-> others can be used, but this is the easiest one to use), and you will need to shorten your driveshaft. If you run fuel injection, you will need to change your fuel pump system. There will be other things you need, but those are the basics to getting started. Quote Link to comment

It looks like the new solution is to use a Ford Duraspark 6cyl distributor and modify it to fit the VG. It's supposed to be a pretty easy conversion. carterb Posted March 31, 2014 Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Nissan Motorsports used to sell a carb for the VG. It was basically the carb from the Saudi market where they had a carb'd VG30.
