datzenmike
The F4W71B 4 speed is definitely pre '80s made. The FS5W71B 5 speed I can't tell from the picture. Both are for an L series motor though. If there are any markings it will be on the passenger side of the front case somewhere near the reverse lamp switch or the drain bung and will likely say or L71B or LZ71B. There may be a code stamped on the very top of the bell but I've never been able to decode it. The automatics are coded for year and month of manufacture but the standards make no sense at all. I have one 71B with NMCA cast on the back tail stock. I was told Nissan (Metal or Motor) Company Australia (I forget) Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
That upper radiator hose... 3 Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
That's what using a '75-79 radiator with a NAPS-Z does to you. Look at the clutch master- my 74 had the same shadetree engineered master, Someone used the diagonal-bolt master from an 80s Nissan. Mine was bailing wired to the firewall, and as I expected to keep the truck maybe a year (rusted out, beat to hell $95 impound auction purchase) I didn't bother to change it... until the master finally failed 11 years later. That NMCA... I swear I have a transmission somewhere with "NMCA Japan" cast on it. But I could be way wrong. Quote Link to comment
exit64
Their all NOT coming to your place, Stubbs :) There, I fixed it for you. Just saw the back half of the driveway for the first time in 3 years and trying to keep it that way. 1 Quote Link to comment

67411sss
Haven't posted for a while... i went back to see this guy about a 720 starter and while in the shop i looked out the window and holy shit .... A 1960 splitscreen panel!!! i jokingly asked if its for sale, "make me an offer" i laughingly say $100........... "sold" but you have to move it. He removed the front beam and it sat that way for 30 years, it took 2 days to winch it out, down a bank and get it home. I thought i would share this as an adventure of sorts, always keep your eyes open, you never know how or when. Its sold now, WAY to much for me. Rory 5 Quote Link to comment

67411sss
I think he just wanted to watch me get it out! He built buildings around it and the only way out was down the bank. I had a 8000lbs winch I chained to trees and slowly pulled it around to bank. I'll never forget pushing it over hoping nothing breaks. Quote Link to comment
