datzenmike
Odometer only goes to 99,999 so it could have rolled over to 186,000... Look for high wear on brake pedal and driver's door hinge Quote Link to comment
stinkymaster
The car in question is a barn find it hasn't ran in a while and was once towed behind a rv so its a very low milage it has a small dent base ball size in the rear quarter. Is their anything to look for when buying a 1200 like rust in certain spots? ggzilla
Feel for holes on the back side of the steering wheel There were no 1970 1200s sold in USA. Check the build plate on the drivers door post. 1200 made from June 1970 are model year 1971. Quote Link to comment
KELMO
Look for rust in/on.........the back part of the fenders between the wheel and the door, the rocker panels, the spare tire wheel well, also look at the weatherstrips for the front windshield and back glass...these tend to shrink/dry out and water gets in. Almost forgot to mention the floor spots...between the door and the front seat and the corner where the firewall starts to go up and the "A" pillar starts to go up. Quote Link to comment
stinkymaster
I have the sn from the door it reads LB110-749563 and the car is green the plate states its a 1970 . Its located in canada so dose that make any differance? thankyou dave Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, sales in Canada started two months earlier than in USA. The plate has the build date, not the model year Canada 1200 sales started June 1970 and were 1971 models. Just like last year when the 2014 models started to appear even though it was still 2013. If the 1200 has no rust, no dents, engine doesn't smoke, drives good, it is worth $2500-$3500 If it looks and drives brand new, $5000. Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
where in Canada, what province Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
if you can get pics posted, it will be easier to give you an idea and knowing where in Canada will also help as what would be worth $500 in western Canada could be worth $1500 in eastern Canada and vise versa. Quote Link to comment
