datzenmike
I think Nissan used hardened valve seats back then. Someone else can answer if 87 octane will do if not run premium. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
My 1972 Datsun was designed to run on unleaded- says so right in the owners manual. Datsun used superior metals compared to American cars. Even the steel was stronger and rusted less. When was the last time you saw a 1970-1973 American sub-compact? They rusted away long ago. maltese
I run premium. A shot of Seafoam every now and then. Lucas Hot Rod & Classic Car 10w40. 2500ppm ZDDP. Bosch oil filter (same as Purolator Pure One). Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The 1973 240Z owner's manual under "Fuel Recommendation" says to use: * 87 R+M/2 * 91 RON this is for 8.8:1 compression ratio. Gas is rated today by the R+M/2 method. If your 240Z is stock and pings on 87 octane gasoline, then adjust the timing correctly, and ensure it is not running hot. Quote Link to comment
