The Spotnicks? Kind of more "Rocket" than Santo and Johnny or the Ventures. My uncle had some of those albums and I would listen to them when I was there on the console slide out phonograph that had 4 speeds. I have never seen a 16 rpm record.

My first g/f's parents had an old phonograph with a trumpet horn behind adjustable louvres in the cabinet. The louvres were the volume control which was funny as there was no amplifier. You hand cranked to wind a spring to spin the turntable. If you forgot the second or third record would suddenly begin slowing down half way through. There was a small pocket in the wood for the needles and a piece of sand paper to sharpen them. It played 78s without electricity.  

 

The 'Walk Don't Run' Ventures???? Wow, takes me back to '57 and next door neighbor on the farm. She was 12 or 13? and watched American Bandstand and would recruit me to dance with her in front of the TV. Our TV was always broken.

My coworker and I met our wives at a local brew pub to see these guys play at the start of their tour. I chatted with the Glenn the singer in the parking lot where he was walking his dog, a cute little pup, he's a really nice guy. It was an acoustic gig as they were stuck in a corner, and it was alright. A short while after my wife went to a Trooper concert with her friend, and they were the the opening act. My wife said they were so much better electric and with a full drum kit.  And they were selling those blue tooth cassette players with their other merch.
