paradime
Here’s a question: What’s the next big thing going to be in popular music? Every music scene has always been a response to, or rebellion against the old generation’s music. Big Band Jazz in the teens and 20s, Swing 30s 40s, Rock 50s 60, Punk/New Wave 70s 80s, Grunge Rap/Hip Hop 90s 00s, Indy Rock and today’s retro rehash music scene; all were a progression of rebellion against the music that came before it. I predict that self produced electronic music will be the next wave of rebellion against the repetitive overly romantic crap being produced by the music industrial complex. Everyone has access to cheep, but powerful virtual recording technology. Today anyone can express his or her whole imagination with absolute control, no instruments, recording studio, or band needed. All it takes is a keyboard, a laptop, and some software to produce, perform, mix, master, and distribute. With the ability to design and manipulate every sound, and audio modeling technology that reproduces an absolutely 3D sound stage, there is no limit to a musician’s imagination. All it will take is for the right talent to embrace this unlimited instrument. Imagine if Stevie Wander had this kind of absolute freedom and control when he was producing Songs In The Key Of Life. RatVonDude
funny Kiwi beatnik rock, some batshit lady at peets coffee today started jabbing to me outta nowhere about the Tesla car. I told her that it had nothing to do with Mr.Tesla himself and electric cars have been around for over 100 years. She told me that I was a very patronizing man and asked if I smoked weed, before I could say no thanks she came back at me with "well you talk very slow and I'm just wondering how many brain cells you've lost" she then got up and drove off. Jesus, C U N Tuesday nutbag. 1 Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
I have been going old school today, back to my childhood of the 70's and 80's. The local "oldies?" station has been doing a marathon of Casey Kasem to commemorate his life in radio. WAY different stuff than the classic rock, alternative, and metal I usually listen to. "This past weekend, we lost America's DJ, Casey Kasem, host of the Original American Top 40 shows. Please join us starting at 6 p.m. Friday, to hear Casey’s daughter and son, Kerri and Mike Kasem, with a 2-hour special Tribute to the King of the Countdown. Together, they count down the highlights of Casey’s life while reminiscing about growing up with their dad. They’ll cover the launch of AT40, the popularity of the Long Distance Dedication, Casey’s activism, and his career as the voice of Shaggy on Scooby-Doo. You'll only hear this special this weekend and rebroadcast Saturday Morning at 10 and for the final time Sunday evening at 10. We've hear this show, it is moving, and should be a part of your plans this weekend. Then, starting at 8 p.m. Friday catch the very 1st countdown from 1970, and all weekend long get highlights of the shows from the 70's and 80's. We'll end Sunday evening with Casey's last AT40 broadcast from 1988, and the very last song he introduced in his long career." http://www.kix1029.com Quote Link to comment
