So I have a big problem,

I had to drill out the cotter pin in the lower spindle.

As far as i can tell these parts are not available anywhere

Part No.40023-30000.

If anyone knows of a pair of these anywhere in the world please let me know.

They come in the kingpin kits, otherwise you have to pull them from any used 520/521 trucks you see at the wrecking yards, about 50 percent of them get ruined trying to get them out.

If you drilled the hole out, just find a skinny bolt that will fit in the hole, originally the hole is tapered with a offset.

So I painted the wheels and the dash the other day, more jobs off the list.

Finished the tie rod ends and and steering all back in now.

I still have a long list of jobs to do but i should be able to road test soon.

I may have a complete wiring loom if interested and maybe a few other parts. PM me your number or I can send you mine.

Thanks Mate, I may have to pick your brain over a couple of things. Ive got a lot for the problems sorted with the wiring, I think the remaining problems are in the flasher unit or switches ect.

So it's been a little while since I last posted, I've still been busy

I drove the datsun for the first time, down the drive and back again. Woohoo.

Rebuilt the brakes again, this time the rear wheel cylinder popped and needed replacing.

i'm not that happy with the bleed job but it will do for now.

most of the electrics have been sorted still a couple of gremlins to chase out of the system.

I've pulled the drive shaft and gearbox to service them, I got the gearbox back today with the all clear, just oil seals replaced.

started to pull the bearing off the drive shaft, the bearing i picked up for it is wrong so back to square one there.

I will be replacing the clutch while the gearbox is out, looks like i'll need to replace the flex hose for the clutch slave as well.

I've been getting started on the metal work, cutting some more patches and cutting holes in the truck.

It looks a lot worse than it is,I'm not that far from finishing.

If you need any repair sections I may be able to help you out. Send me pics of what sections you need and I'll check if they're any good on my scrap cab

sorry for the hijack but what are the front pillars above and below the door hinge mounting points like on your scrap cab?

I have to hand make the bottom left corner (pictured above). So if you still have that part it would be a huge help.

Cheers James W

I will rub back to bare metal and check and send you a picture. I'm guessing you mean at the back of the sill panel like the picture above?

So I have now finished all my mechanical work, I sorted the drive shaft bearing and the clutch has been replaced. Now I've started with the patches for the rust work, most to seem to bad but I have a couple of corners to sort out.I've cut 10 patches so far and I think I'll have about 10 more to go. Then I just need to learn how to weld.
