Laecaon
Any idea what hose struts are from? Considering that is my car, I think I would know. I pulled them from an early 90s civic hatch, though I cannot remember if it was the square or rounded body style. 2 Quote Link to comment

Sorry, but this made me giggle... Reason I suggested new was they are fairly cheap and it requires no junk yard hunting. They just show up at your door and look pretty. 1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
I'm nervous about the limited support if you eliminate the supporting center prop. I'd imagine one gust of wind could fold the corner. But are you guys reporting all good? Quote Link to comment

qwik510
Another 510 owner used a single hood strut in the center to replace the original hood prop rod. 2 Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
Not sure why you would want to go from a no slop taper to a sloppy through bolt, though. Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Not sure why you would want to go from a no slop taper to a sloppy through bolt, though. What the hell are you talking about? I will try not to put the 1/2"bolt in the 5/8" hole. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Also, get boots for those Heim joints. They tend to get dirt inside and then squeak and squeal a ton. 1 Quote Link to comment
Just Joel
This ^^^^ Built for strength, not longevity ;) they do get loud and relatively quickly. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Not sure why you would want to go from a no slop taper to a sloppy through bolt, though. What the hell are you talking about? I will try not to put the 1/2"bolt in the 5/8" hole. He's talking about the fact that a taper has an interface with 0 gaps and more surface contact while a through hole will always have some gap even if you ream it to final size and has less surface contact which means a weaker joint. If you think about how hard it is to remove a tie-rod end compared to a bolt you'll realize it's a lot stronger of a connection with no slop compared to the bolt connection. Simply put, an interference fit is stronger and tighter than a through hole slip fit. 3 Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
Another 510 owner used a single hood strut in the center to replace the original hood prop rod. I get rid of center hood props on every car I do bodywork on , A bad design makes hood raise in middle rear and people lean on hood edge damaging rear side . Quote Link to comment
tr8er
Damn tanker. Everyone is ripping apart your sloppy hole. 2 Quote Link to comment
datrod
That's just the way he rolls. If he see's something on E Bay and it says it will fit a 510 he buys it. Weather it works or not. The heim joint thing. Cause race wagon.... 1 Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
Not personal ,as a bodyman hate that center thing ,and even hinge shocks I have installed change hood adjustment ,I know people like them ,I just like a prop bar to hold hood ,simple no hood stress . Ray keep on going , looks great , I like red interior ,my car has stock red/maroon inferior ,gave my Green wagon to my son ,will get going soon so we can race wagons next ! DaBlist
So bumpers look like better then new. Shaved the License plate holes and decided to run the guards. Just waiting now on the NOS bumper guard rubbers. Might not be getting body work love but everything else is cumming to play. Did the fenders come back from chrome yet? 2 Quote Link to comment
