ol' 320
Congrats Ol 320!!! Thanks, but credit where it is due. Joseph, Joel, Justin and Carlos are the ones who figured out the wiring and technical details on this engine swap. I just pay for parts and wait for good things to happen:) 2 Quote Link to comment
ol' 320
That Tomei manifold is the business. Thanks Mainer... This manifold solves a bunch of problems by helping to clear the steering column in a 521 and to avoid the interference problem most headers have of navigating around the torsion bars with the downpipe. I can't wait to hear it run in person. The truck is in Santa Clara and I am in Visalia, working. The guys say that the exhaust , which runs from the downpipes under the cab and then splits into duals out the back, with dual NOS Hayabusa mufflers, is surprisingly quiet yet sounds appropriately "interesting!" I wanted something different that sounded good but kept the nosy out of the cab. This is what Joseph came up with, so I am excited to see it and hear it. 2 Quote Link to comment

ol' 320
Joe still has a few things to finish up and then put a few miles on it to sort things. With that said, you can bet I will zip up there to get it as soon as he thinks its ready for the road. This truck is really low. Like "limbo" low. You don't step up into it. You don't slide into it. You fall down into it! 2 Quote Link to comment

ol' 320
Overdue for update. Installing new exhaust Saturday, then will fire up and final tune. If no rain Saturday, I hope to drive it home from Modesto. Helping one of the Big Three film a new truck commercial this weekend up in the Sequoias for an overseas market. Involves "specially trained squirrels" - that's all I can say. Real squirrel actors involved. They do some sort of tricks. Whatever these furry critters do during their comedy routine, the truck manufacturer is paying BIG bucks to film it in my County. One of my work duties at the County is assisting with film production. When this lovely party in the back woods above snowline is all over, I'll try to post a link. And hopefully, once said squirrels are gone next week , I can post a real update and report on if the truck is finally a reliable runner. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I guess you can say this thread has gone to the squirrels!!! LOL Quote Link to comment
ol' 320
New in tank fuel pump installed this weekend in the 521 tank by a good friend in Modesto. We are down to the very last fixes that come with putting any fully disassembled vehicle back on the road: Minor exhaust leak Checking temp probes for the new following system and new gauges and fan controller to ensure accuracy Alignment Calibrate fuel gauge Make better battery cables Install ground strap to aluminum radiator to eliminate possible electrolysis (Thanks for that tip, Matt Stoffregen) Fix minor fluid leak Roadtest I would have driven up to Modesto to check out Justin's progress this weekend, but Central California is finally getting some rain! Wearing my County hat, I have been helping monitor local flooding issues as we receive a very welcome boatload of snow in our high country. 1 Quote Link to comment
