Buying a 411 Project

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am a vivid Datsun and old Volk fanatic, today I have the opportunity to get a Datsun 411 1966, but the previous owner removed the transmission tunnel. I want to save the car, but I am in need of a 411 for parts or anyone that might be parting one, or another car that the tunnel match to the car.

I will post pictures of my 66 1300 truck and the 411 during the week.

Any help I will appreciated...

Thanks

Hi Lunitik.

Perhaps we'll re name this post later or move it into the project section once you get started with some pictures. This may be helpful for posting pictures... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/691-how-to-post-pictures-and-keep-online-photo-albums/

If looking for a parts car please start an ad in our classifieds section near the top of the page... http://community.ratsun.net/classifieds/category/14-cars/?sort_key=date_added&sort_order=desc This will keep the 410/411 section clear for discussion.

For now, if you have an offer of parts please contact Lunatik directly at http://vwaddict75@gmail.com or private message from his profile page... http://community.ratsun.net/user/20720-lunatik/

HI Guys

Sorry for being disconnected for a while, I travel a lot for work by the time I can get connected it is too late for me. Well, my intention was to buy parts to fix a 411 that I got from another member of this forum but ended up buying Toms 410 65 as well. It is a very nice car, very complete, all body rubber are nice... it is a good thing that I got two because my wife want me to fix the 410 for her now as stock, now I have to sacrifice myself to make the wife happy ;) Jk...When I get home on Friday I will start cleaning and finding what is wrong with the engine, brakes and any other mechanical or electrical issues. Im hoping that I can revive the E1 engine again before removing it from the car for cleaning and inspection.

As of right now, the project will continue; removing the red paint to show the black paint under it, lower suspension and dress it up with white wall tires and hubcaps.

Then working on the 66 411... I have not decided engine and tranny for it yet, I read about the R-16 conversion or 12A rotary... which is very cool for me... for sure I will have an idea soon after I get the 410 going.

be sure that it is actually black paint under it and not the factory primer. for some reason the red and green cars had black primer, mt blue 411 has the red primer. i also have a car that was painted blue over the original red and that car is black primer too..... id hate to see it all color sanded down to find its primer and wont buff up to a shine.....

I have resurrected the car today... it is aliveeee.... Today I spent the day cleaning the car; also cleaned the fuse box and terminals only to find out that the alternator has been connected wrong. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of the alternator connection.

I used an old carburetor, sprayed starter fluid and the car started right up, I got all lights working correctly as well and the wiper motors.

Now to put brakes and lower the car... can anyone point me to the right direction on how to lower the car properly without the use of bags.

I was very glad that the engine start and run fine, I do not know when was the last time it was fired, but it ran perfectly. Took apart the gas tank and started cleaning the gunk inside the lines. Thanks to the "SEARCH" button, I read few post on how to lower a 411... it is easier than I though.

I know some one knows... does the coil need a capacitor? I just burned a coil this weekend while testing the engine.

Abso F####ing lutely !  It goes across the points in case you didn't know, not the coil.  By the way, you have probably welded the points so go buy a new set, it usually, but not always, comes with the capacitor.
