I installed a tach into my truck from a 4x4 but it is not coming on. I connected the connector behind the dash to the back of the tach but is that it?? Can I just run a signal wire to the back of the tach connector?

Ignition coil. The green wire coming off of it is the old signal wire for a sunpro tach.

Random plug next to ign coil

No.

... but it's an easy fix. Your wiring harness will or should have a plug taped up somewhere between the coils and the back of the driver's side headlights. It will resemble a lump all covered with electric tape. Uncover and fit this...

Its a 2.2 K ohm resistor. All '80s Nissans with factory tachs will have it like the S110, S12 720, 280zx, 300zx. You can get a 2.2K ohm resistor from an electronics store and it will work also.
