looks alot like a 3rd gen maxima oil pan. good luck on that swap!

Wouldn't be surprised if it's actually the same pan? I think all of the FWD cars/vans used a front sump pan.

Quest/Villager seems to be the only one that's available new though.

You may also notice in that last pic that one of the 280ZXs in the yard had urethane crossmember bushings in it. Which are now mine.  B)

Need to go back soon to get some axle flanges from a CV axle car, and maybe a few other bits...

Dammit, I missed out on a junkyard trip. Next time you go let me know and I will take off to help. I am really, really good at taking stuff apart. Going back together maybe not as much.

I saw my buddy Larry in Childress last weekend. He has 200 mostly rare cars on 20 acres. I told him that when I die and go to Heaven, this is what it will look like. My childhood dream was to own a junkyard. Sick? Maybe, but in a good way.

I buy all my stuff from one particular yard because he is kind enough to pull it off for me.

I just went in yesterday and gave him a list of what I needed, then came back today and picked it all up. And he's only about 2 miles from the shop.

A crazy idea for you, supercharge.. :)

Probably a little too crazy...

I think the 3.3L will be plenty of power for me.  B)

We may be picking up a VG30 D21 for a "shop truck" soon, though. It's cheap because it needs a motor. There has been some talk of just swapping in a supercharged VG33 from a Frontier. That would be pretty damn cool...

Have you test fitted the pan yet?  I tried using an S12 pan and flipping the crossmember.  Didn't fit like I thought it would.  I'm using Dave Carrol's motor mounts.

I have sort of test fitted it...

A friend of mine built these motor mounts for me, and he's done 3 swaps already using the same combo of parts.

Maybe the S12 pan is deeper than the Quest? And I'm not above building a skid plate...    ^_^

  • 2 weeks later...

Those are what I want for My Sedan!! :hyper:

Not in a 16x8 I hope...

Flip the faces and go!

As much as I would love to, no.   B)

I bought this particular offset for a very specific reason. No big lips here. To put deep dish wheels on it would require a lot more fab work with the IRS swap, and in the end it's just not worth it. Keeping the stock geometry of the 280ZX rear suspension will save a lot of welding, and prevent a lot of potential headaches. And as a bonus I get to keep the factory rear sway bar.
