Yeah, I'm a big 2 stroke fan. I still ride an old KX500 for a dirtbike.

I've been wearing down my step dad to sell me his, its been sitting since 04 only a month after he had the whole bike redone so its pretty much new bike (and its punched out to something like 530  )

In the early 90s I had an insane Canadian RD350LC with Crank trued and pins welded, Cylinders bored honed and ported, Heads cut and rechambered, 28 mm Mikuni box slide Carbs, Reed cages were modified, and a sick set of Jolly pipes.  For tare ass'n around San Francisco, it was fucking untouchable. I could do 130 through the Broadway tunnel and the sound was orgasmic. Holly shit I miss that bike. May be dirty and stinky, but that 2 stroke power band is like nothing else. DRUG!

Have you ridden it before?

yes I have, its was horribly out of tune, I think there was something in the xarb or it was way over jetted, still makes my 250 seem slow by comparison. my only problem is starting that pig, I don't quite have enough ass the slam it over fast enough, but I can bump start it.

A lot of that starting is technique. One I don't have or need, because I'm kinda heavy, but my cousin is a girl that's a buck o five and she fires it right up, also my tt500. Only thing I am not at all crazy about with the KX is trail ridding. It will flat out take your lunch money if you get too relaxed on it.

agreed with all if the above, last time I kicked on it I had a bruised heel so I could give it all I had. I was going to throw a paddle on it and use it for a dune bike, my 250 is set of for the woods so I have that area.......I need to go riding.....its been like 6 months....

Most of the audio is from outside the car, but in the middle there is audio from there interior with a three gear shift. You can hear a SEXY woosh at every shit.

1936 Fairbanks Morse Model 32D controlling RPM through ignition cut off to individual cylinders. Chugging along you can see smoke rings being blown out the exhaust. Definitely not clean diesis

Explanation of how a sleeve valve engine works. Second cylinder sleeve moving independently from the piston and block. The head is nothing more than a second stationary piston. Absolutely crazy mechanical engineering. Oh those Brits

I like the Honda rc166 better, internals are like watch parts in that damn thing, and it revs to 18k in a flash!

Britten was a fucking genius, guy made some pretty rediculous things, in his garage/foundry/machine shop

I agree Q-tip, By virtue of it's sound alone I like the RC166. All of the bikes I listed were quantum leaps in the industry, but it's truly remarkable what that Honda accomplished in the way of mechanical engineering. It was essentially a two cylinder F1 engine of it's time.

Britten was the quintessential can do guy who took DIY to a whole new level. The fact is, the motorcycle industry still hasn't caught up to his master piece.

I like those electric bikes too. The advantage the electric motor has in that environment is there's no altitude fall off in power. That's a huge advantage when you consider the next closest gas bike was over two minute behind. At 14,000 feet there's very little air to go around, no matter what the tune.

Supposedly there are a few electric bike teams gunning for the Isle of Man TT. A win there would really put pressure on the big manufacturers to produce and compete with electric. Competition always drives innovation and technology. Leave R&D to the manufacturers and all you get is warmed over shit.

I thought I'd never be able to give up the ball tingling whine of a fine tuned internal combustion engine, but then I drove my brother's Tesla Roadster S. Even if she ain't scream'n, 0-60 in 3.6 sec is still pure SEX. The power delivery is an all go brutal kick in the pants, and it's always right there on demand. Honestly... I didn't really miss the sound at all, or shifting for that matter. Driving the Roadster S was like flying a stealth Jedi fighter. Five minutes of that drug and I was hooked.

Check out the license plate
