No dyno sheet. I remember the OHC was rated at 215 hp back in the day.

That was one of many hp ratings The 215 hp version was the W53 Sprint version for Firebirds only. Tempests got the 1 barrel 165 hp one, then in 1968 the displacement increased from 230 to 250 ci and horsepower went to 175 for the 1 barrel and 215 for the Sprint with automatic and the sticks got the 230 hp version. GM must have been doing their under rating thing again because the 1967 230 ci Sprint was rated at 215 hp just like the 250 that came out in 1968. The W53 along with the 4 barrel had higher compression and a hotter cam.

Yup my friend in HS, his dad had a '63 Pawnticket w/ 283. Next door neighbor had a '64 Pontiac 327, I had a '65 283 much later. Only Pontiac engines I ever saw was the 326 in Firebirds and a few 400s and a 389. Had a '79 Cutlass with a 305.

Up here most Pontiacs were named something else. I had a '65 Parisienne (maybe a Catilina?) The closest we got to a Tempest was the GTO. Only the Firebird and I've seen exactly two OHC sixes.

I have only seen one and that was at a Good Guys show a couple of years ago. When those engines came out I was very interested in the technology and read everything I could about them. Here in the higher elevations everyone wanted V8 power so I don't think too many sold here so all I saw were the photos in the articles about them.
