rattadat
Is there a straight forward caliper upgrade for the 280z. Ive heard of alot of people using yota four pots. Anyone have info on what this upgrade entails. As far as what year and model these specific calipers can be sourced from? And what kind of modifications need to take place in order to achieve good caliper/rotor alignment.. I appreciate any and all help on this. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Early Toyota 4X4 truck calipers up to '77? when they were changed to wider vented rotors. Same bolt pattern because they are (or were) made by Fuji Heavy Industries of whom Nissan was a part owner at the time. (this is why the Subaru R-160 LSD differentials from the '90s drop right into the '68 510s) Bolt right on. http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/Calipers/toyotaCalipers.html also this: "There are two conversions for Toyota stuff, all bolt on with a little trimming on the dust shield to fit the larger calipers.First: Toyota 1988 4X4 four piston calipers, Nissan 240 rotors (your stock stuff you already have), and 15/16 1979-81 280ZX master cylinder (not required but highly recommended). Most wheels will fit fine.Second: Toyota 1988 4X4 V6 four piston calipers, Nissan 1984-85 non turbo 300ZX rotors, hub spacer 17mm height (early Z) with 155mm O.D. 81mm I.D. and four 10.5mm holes 4 1/16" equodistance spaceing (also available aftermarket), and 15/16 1979-81 280ZX master cylinder. A lot of wheels have trouble fitting over these monsters. You need atleast 15mm of depth from the hub to the wheel. Finally it is best to change old worn out rubber brakes lines with braided stainless steel on all four corners." Quote Link to comment
