I’ve been sleeping on a waterbed for nearly 30 years. The best sleep I have ever had. Like floating on a cloud.

Was always told to never turn the heater off but no reason given. In the sweltering heat of the summer I did turn it off and after a day it was luxuriously cool and comfortable. Withing two weeks I had lower back ache. Turns out room temperature water acts like a heat sink drawing warmth from the kidney area causing poor circulation and low grade infection.

Do they even sell waterbeds anymore? I slept on one once and the heater was cool.. but if your sharing the bed a slight movement can cause a tsunami over on your side. Also having a few hundred gallons of water just chilling in a bag in your bedroom seems like a mistake waiting to happen. Are they in a tub of some sort? I'm clearly not an experience waterbedder. Not to be confused with bedwetter. Different, yet oddly similar.

They have (or definitely should have) a heater and thermostat control set to near body temperature. Later ones had baffles like a gas tank to reduce waves. Sure, it may seem strange at first but you can get used to anything. Then there's the great water sports!

This is my water bed. Had her going on 21 years now. Sailed her to Cuba, most of the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos and the Dominican Republic. Sail her in just the US lately. The pic was in Dec in the Florida keys. You are supposed to worry about weather, dragging anchor, piracy whatever, but I have never slept better than in a safe anchorage with a howling north wind screaming in the rigging while the boat pitches. I am weird but coming back to land and trying to sleep "on the hard" I become an insomniac. Getting on the boat it smells like diesel, mold and a waft of sewage but to me will always be the smell of "Home"!

when I was a kid at home and also young and married I had a waterbed my friend got married and went on his honeymoon and asked me to hang on to 500 dollars for him

i put the money between the waterbed mattress and the liner

while he was gone my house burned down I lost most everything but when allowed to go in my house to save what i could half of my house was gone BUT melted in between the waterbed mattress and liner was that wet 500 dollars still good not burned

the waterbed with baffles was much better then the one as a kid where when someone else got in bed made a wave across the whole bed

A girl friend had one, we made tidal waves all the time! It was like the high seas, arrgh!!!

I built one in the late 80's, that was a 10ft decagon, upholstered in black velvet. Missionary sex on it was like playing handball against thick window drapes, but it matched my frame less Department store, Nagel prints and missionary is boring.

Don't want to start a boat porn thread so just lumping this here.

What am I watching here? Are these guy's queuing up and hitting a choice spot like rock crawlers? At first, I was bummed; I thought there are so many people moving to Idaho that there are lines on the Salmon River. I haven't been to Salmon in the spring/summer (tourist season) for a really long time.

I think it would be cool to have a boat also but the closest body of water to me is the Rio Grande river and you can pretty much just walk across it....I mean, people do it every day. The other things that hold me back are the fact that I live in a desert climate and really can't swim.

Yep Endless money pits. A crack habit is fiscally more responsible and cheaper. I hear kids are expensive too. I don't have any of those, just fiberglass ones.
