4 to 5 it came out of a 83 maxima

77 should be a direct swap. Crawl under your truck and throw a tape measure on your 4 speed. If it's the same length your good to go.

The '73.5 to '79 used the long tail 4 spd., same length as the 5 spd. Measure them... should be 31.5" long.

 

You'll probably have to use the Maxima shifter with it.

I used a 1982 280zx 5- speed in a 1978 620 truck. Bolted right up, no mods at all.

 

I did a short 5th gear to tall 5th gear swap! :D (had to work on the clutch anyway)

lol sorry mopar, its hard to measure tranny while its in the truck cause all the crap.. but they visually look identical.. as for using the maxima shifter.. i my other shifter will work fine.. they're the same kinda setup either way i wouldnt mind if i had to.. we're going to take that tranny out of the purple people eater an put it in my truck some time in the future.. we located a t5 for the zx and also an extra turbo motor.. it runs but has some issues.. im sure if we used all the parts thats on his current motor the other would run fine.. but the plan is to build the spare one up

It'll work. If the one on the ground from the Maxima is 31.5" go for it.!! I can tell by looking at the picture that you're OK.
