T.Redgrave
Any of you Ratsun folks on this side of the country have a desire to put together a meet? It'd be cool to do it here in Virginia - it's sort of positioned in the middle of the coastline and all. I know of a few places that we might be able to gather. Plus Virginia Beach is kind of a cool place to meet, with the strip and the resort area to hang out at. Comments, questions, and input welcome! We only have one big meet here once a year called Springfest, we should add a nissan/datsun/classic jdm meet to the roster! Quote Link to comment
72240z
I think location should be determining by member locations. If its a 100/50 split then having it int he middle doesnt make sense for most. There are already east coast meets though. If you mean an east coast canby then I wouldnt hold your breath lol. athoose
I love to but my 620 is auto with a 4.6 rear. Going to have to be real close for me. Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
People I have heard of...there about 6-8 including myself in KY, 6 in IN, 5 in TN, and 2 maybe 3 in Ohio and most of them are dual members on Ratsun and DMT, but that is a soft count and so far no Datto only meets via either crew in this area yet. I would be happy to take time off to go out of state to one if I knew it wouldn't be wasted over a bunch of no shows. But till then I am tucking moneys away out of the lil womans sight... Canby 13 will be my target. 1 Quote Link to comment
T.Redgrave
lol I feel you guys. I just thought I'd see what kind of interest there could be in setting up something, maybe an annual thing. I only suggested Va cuz I'm already here and I could look into the logistics of a meeting area since I was proposing it, but I'm not against finding a destination that would be about equal for everyone to get to. Just a theory anyway. If nothing else, we could just organize a little Ratsun corner in the next Springfest, that's gotten pretty damn big. Quote Link to comment
72240z
One of the reasons imho that canby is what it is, is because its an overnight thing on its own. Traveling long distances is def easier when you can spend a night relaxing.Just to be part of a car show is a dime a dozen. Shit we have a few thousand cars every wed at bear mt and this year the nation z convention is in NH too, thats going to bring more datsuns then any event out there. 2 Quote Link to comment

T.Redgrave
Well I wouldn't be opposed to creating a "Canby" style event for this side, but you seemed a bit skeptic on the idea lol Quote Link to comment

Exactly, Canby 2010 we had maybe 10 Ratsun members show that Friday night with a good turnout later. 2011 we had like 25-30 Fri nite, Sat we took over the camp area outside the fence! I missed 12 and 13 :crying: but I was told there was even more. The camp out is the best part!! Quote Link to comment

elmerfudpucker
As cool as the Dragon is it may be a bit too far South for those up North. Ohio, or better Indiana, would be a good center point for everyone on this side of the river. Also I would like everyone to know all Datsuns would be welcome, not just the 510's and Z's, although a track nearby would be a bonus. Fast setup would be this fall but realistically next spring would be best IMHO. We need some sort of headcount of those that have Dattos that can make the trip. So all you Dattoheads up there in northern reaches and the deep south need to speak up. I know Datsuns are pretty slim on this side of the Mississippi, so maybe if we link up with the old school Yota crowd as well we may get something going...<---someone poke those guys please I don't know any here. I think the only thing not needed is the newer honda/ hellaflush/ jdm wannabes, they have the import meets all the time all over the place. Like 80's and older Honda's, Toyota, Datsun/Nissan stuff like that, rides that are not seen all the time, that is what we need. Shine or rust, just bring your @ss and car/truck and prepare to have some fun. Keep in mind if we can acquire a track/fairgrounds it will take some money and planning. If that is the case maybe a club that has some pull could help out/ sponsor the event? 1 Quote Link to comment

It's nice to see the "new" generation of cars and what people can do with them but the real gems that we drive along with the older Toyota' Bmw's are super rare in these parts an I think it would be awesome to get anything more than 2 (lol) together. The last meet I went to, I was the only car pre 90's and the people just flocked to her... Let get organized!! 1 Quote Link to comment
T.Redgrave
sorry guys, I started the thread and I've been MIA e.e haha Yeah when I had the idea I didn't mean to say that it would be a Datto only thing, I'd really like to see something like a JCCS starting up on this side. But I'd be down if pre 80s muscle and the old euro crowd showed up too! I like the way you guys are thinkin lol Quote Link to comment
72240z
So basically its a regular car show? who doesnt already have those? lol Macgyver you spoke to clive? On the forum website is an event list but with the convention being in our backyard this year there isnt much going on unto the fall. NJZCC isnt having a show I'm told, neither is CTZCC, which is a shame... Quote Link to comment

Yes, I spoke with Clive a while back, but of course they had thier meet on the one day I had a family obligation this past spring....Anyway, I was just saying that there's no datsun meet or anything pre 90 import.. forget about pre 80's round here unless its your normal "classic" car show.... 99.9 % American muscle (which I love too). It would be nice to get an all datto meet or join up with all the old school Japanese/euro cars since we are scarce around these parts... . Quote Link to comment
72240z
Waterfest is going on this weekend in englishtown, its one of the biggest euro shows in our area. I was thinking about going today but its just too damn hot. They as in NYZCC? Ya it rained to for the last fun run, great time though. We can't win really if we do it on sat people say ohhh I work sat, if we do it Sunday everyone complains about the sports they are missing. There is a reason all the classic shows are mostly domestic. There arent enough Japanese classics in our area to have a show, even combined with classic euro there would be like 50 cars. For me to do a meet with other makes defeats the purpose, we have HUGE meets around our area that all attend. Bear mt has thousands of cars every wed and you can even stay over night lol. Bear mt is far from 99% domestic too, there are datsuns thats arent even in clubs, just people who go, brittish classics, italian classics, german classics...Thats another reason I personally would be leary about driving 10 hours for a mediocre meet. We have some of the best Meets around in greater nyc, we just dont have the numbers to rep datsuns or Japanese classics alone. Quote Link to comment

I've been going to tons of meets over the years with my previous cars. That Bear mt meet is every wed? If so I would love more info.... Please pm me and or send mme your info, maybe could meet up and get a few more "ratsuners" there. Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
I think the numbers would be there if we go with the Euro/Japan meet. The trick is waking everyone up that has them. The crappy ass economy killed most of the shows and people's gas moneys IMHO, but if we start collecting interested drivers and find a club with good rep to help us score a fun spot we would be golden. NYC is ok but I doubt many below Ohio would want to drive that far. Maybe a beach meet midway down the coast? As I said I have not found a meet this side of the river that isn't infested with rice...and it needs to be centered up to most that want to go, have a campground nearby, good food or a supermarket, and a track would be icing on the cake. So where is everyone on the far reaches of the East side of USA??? Start poking the other groups you have ties to and lets get a look at who is interested. Quote Link to comment
