is that the guy who holds the newest pikes peak record? Monster Tajima?

I recognized him (pikes peak sub 10 min run), the shirt confirmed it, a google search revealed his name...

I ran the z club track day/fun run today. His crew came in after our event to do some testing. He never ran the track before. When you have never been on this track and run around 2 minutes the first time and bettered that time by 7 seconds on his net set of two laps. I gotta say that is very impressive.

I tried to get an audio file of the way this sounds coming out of the pits, but I took too long to get the phone set up for video. On the back straight all I could hear was what sounded like just air buffeting off the car. No engine noise at all.

I wish I could be out there tomorrow when he tests for 5 laps straight.

As far as the track day, we had 45 cars and i tired everyone out. At the end of the day I let everyone out on the track. The last car left had an open track and 40 minute session. He got at least 15 laps with a wide open track.

you used your starter to get you home? HAHAHA

.

I was several miles from 'home'. Just after dark driving in town when I stepped on the gas and the engine just revved no connection to the wheels. None of the gears worked and the idle was rough. I shut it off and tried the starter.... it worked but sounded faster. The crankshaft bolts sheared off. The motor (an L20B) had sat outside all winter and the crank bolt holes were rusty. When torqued down the flywheel bolts tightened against the rust instead and took 4-5 months to snap them off. As the flywheel could be turned by the starter, I limped it several blocks to get off the main thoroughfare and to a more residential spot. So in '79 or '80 I had the first electric propulsion 521 in Canada.Told the closest house I would be back in the morning for it and he was fine with that.

Pulled motor, drilled bolts out to next oversize with a B&D hand drill, bought a tap and some grade 8 bolts and it worked fine till I stopped using the truck. Holes were all crooked but you do what you can to keep it alive.

Goddam, I thought I was gonna die just watching that video !

That is some fearless superhuman shit right there.

He came to Stralya years ago to compete in a local round of the Australian Rally Championship.

Was driving a FWD 1300cc Suzuki Swift which sounded like it had an F1 grafted into it.

He was giving some of the 4WD turbo cars a run for their money!
