My '75 710 build

Recommended Posts

Well, this is my 1975 710 project.

I bought it a couple of years ago from Jose down in Stockton, CA. And then the project was born. The specs on the car are pretty simple, stock l20b with 60xxx miles. At the moment it has dual 40mm weber dcoe's with a cannon intake manifold and a 5 speed dogleg. I plan on switching to a single 32/36 setup soon, and I just recently got my l16 manifold thanks to Skib.

The interior has been redone with new seats from an '04 civic si and carpet mats. I'm going to change out the mats for real carpet soon, I just don't have the time right now. (old picture when I still had the automatic)

The body is being prepped right now for paint, almost completely sanded all the way down to metal

And as of right now I have 280zx struts with unknown coils and sadly I'm sitting on a leaf springs with 1.75" blocks on the rear. And my wheels are Varrstoen v2's that are 15x8

So in the last couple of days I received my new weber 32/36 and I installed it in the next couple days, found out that one of my plug wires was completely rusted and was barely firing, so I bought a new cap, rotor, and wire set. And now the car runs way better!!! Still have a minor issue, I need to get a new intake manifold gasket because I have a leak but it should be completely sanded in the next week or so i'll be painting it in the beginning weeks of July

Brand new, right out of the box, came with a filter, and everything needed for the swap, just $250

Without the filter

With the filter, it kinda surprised me that it actually fit, it looked like the filter would be too tall

So, I was able to sand the rest of the car back down to metal and I'm going to the paint shop tomorrow to see how much it'll cost. And in the middle of all this, I was able to snag some rare Hoshino Impul's sized at 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the back, I forgot what offset they are, but they look way better than my old rep wheels.

They have quite a good looking offset all around, especially on the back, they need a lot of finishing and polishing though

Not much has happened lately, installed the new gasket and fender mirrors are going in this week before slammed society in Sonoma, planning on buying a new oil pump soon too, I think it might be starting to go out. And after I put the sea foam in about two months ago, the oil is a lot cleaner, the car runs smoother, and I went through a couple of oil changes just to make sure I got rid of all the seafoam, I'll put up pics of the fender mirrors on the car once they're on. And paint wise, I had some ridiculous quotes from 4k and up, and all the prep work is already done, so I might just end up primering it before the rainy season starts or just clear coating it

So, I decided on repainting my front grille to a black with a holographic metal flake on it, I think it turned out really good, it just needs more clear coat on some areas, and I finally got the mirrors on, and I'll post a how-to on the painting of the grille when I have some time
