darrel
Darrel, ID of flange (yellow) = 4 1/8" inches (dang close either way) Edge to Edge of each hole (red) marked line criss-cross fashion measurement (both same distance) = 3 7/16" inches (dang close either way) I hope that's what you were looking for. The ID of the flange is the same for the cv/tripod axle flange. The measurements seem to be off for the bolt holes. The measurement for the holes are 2.75" from inside edge to inside edge of the holes. Center to center they are 3 1/16". The only thing to know for sure is if you have a tripod axle to check to see if they fit. Just curious if any of these parts would be able to work together to make a different axle set up. That's good to know. Agreed..I'll see if I can figure out something on the fitment (scrounge around in my stuff). Quote Link to comment
72240z
It would seem to me someone could use the inners from the pickup and the rest from a zx with the maxi companion flanges and have a totally bolt in cv if the zx and truck shafts have the same spline anyway 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
Some parts delivered to me today. Still waiting on half-shaft rubber boots though ! I tried to take the pictures with part #'s on them in-case anyone wants to troll for some. Wagner --- (16 total) Front and rear lug studs. I had 1-break and 1- questionable. Since I have to pull the hubs to do these... might as well do them all ! Beck/Arnley --- 225mm throwout bearing.. I have a new 225mm clutch disc and this is just a maintance item (as we know). Wagner --- (2) Clutch slave cylinder rebuilt kits. Beck/Arnely ---- (4) Driveshaft u-joints. (GMB) Beck/Arnley ---- (4) halfshaft u-joints. (GMB) Precision --- (4) halfshaft u-joints. (Moog ... I "think" don't quote me on that...) Airtex --- Distributor rotor. KEM --- Distributor cap. (feels sturdy/durable !) Pile of goodness Resonator length = 18" Resonator pipe width about... 2.25" Resonator height = 4" Inside of resonator Also... got this 240mm clutch disc for a different z... lol ( was going to get an Exedy kit for it , but gotta re-group and conserve where I can until able to  ) Thanks for reading DTP Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
-----S30 4spd trans----- I picked up locally from a trade. Only need a few parts of it , but will save the rest. I determined this one was a good candidate for what I needed since = The drain-plug had a chunk of bearing on it.. Taking off the clutch fork and collar w/throwout bearing. Grabbed a 12mm anything to break loose (8) bolts around the perimeter of the transmission. (should use 3/8" drive or wrench to break loose). If you don't have this many bolts (8).. you failed. Wen't to the inside of the bell-housing to loosen these (5) retaining bolts. Once all out there should be (5) bolts total ... remember (1) is longer than the rest. Next time to pop off the cover. Stuck a Craftsman prybar (carefulley) against the clutch fork pivot point back end , and gently tapped with a dead-blow hammer. Once somewhat loose... pull it off ( you can also very gently... tap around the perimeter to "finish" it off ). opps... countershaft front bearing shim fell out (look at the bottom ... an important washer looking thing). It's free. (more pics coming). 1 Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Input shaft bearing = top Countershaft fromt bearing = bottom Countershaft front bearing shim = sitting at the bottom Shift fork holes 1-2 , 3-4 , R = to the left Keeping track of this. Here's what the inside of the front cover looks like. It utilize's the smaller 56mm front countershaft bearing ;) Input shaft oil seal should be easy to replace This is where the front countershaft bearing is suppose to sit.. I bagged + tagged and sarin wrapped everything then slid it all in a box to keep track of it ;) Next ---- See the "blind" snap-ring on the Input Shaft bearing ? ( groove is towards the top left of the bearing pictured ) This sucker comes out next. Closeup of the snap-ring groove. Grabbed a pain of expander snap-ring pliers (when you grip the prongs go <--- out ---> ) :) NOTE: I probably should have used the larger thicker ones designed for this , but couldn't get the pair I had to fit. And here the snap-ring be (more pics coming in a sec) Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Next--- grabbed a block of wood. In this case a treated 4x4. The input shaft will be rest on this for a short amount of time (carefully). Grabbed a dead-blow hammer next. Stood the transmission up vertically on the input shaft (carefully..) Very gently tapped around the permiter in a criss-cross fashion... with the dead-blow hammer (could use wood , rubber mallets , etc ANYTHING that is soft... remember this is cast aluminum..... ) more of the same Front case popped free. At this point decided to be even more careful. More of the same ( yes ! I did in fact pull out and clean the drain-plug female/male ends ... it was bugging me ... works well now  You should too  ) Trans at this point carefully laid down on the 4x4 treated lumber view from the top of trans. You can see the front case pulling away at the bearing and shifter fork pockets.. (More pics to come) 1 Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Gears look GOOD ! The front case. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
((( ---- 1995 KA24DE "C" series 240sx transmission ---- ))) obtained this a bit ago. Has 126,000 miles on it. Tipped it up on edge to be able to get at the front-case retaining bolts easier.(thick cardboard) Dowel pin alignment hole. pulled off the clutch slave next Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Throwout bearing comes off next Clutch fork comes off. Loosening the 12mm retainer bolts (5) total if done successfully. Popped the cover loose (didn't have to use a dead-blow... just pulled with my hand gently..) Pulled off front snap ring , bagged and tagged parts , and tapped bellhousing off gently just like earlier with my S30 4spd trans mentioned. (more pics coming). Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
KA24DE gears look good ! (not crap on gears just lighting + oil) <a href="http://s1086.photobucket.com/user/zguy2/media/SU1BRzI3MzQuanBn_zps86f2b62c.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/j447/zguy2/SU1BRzI3MzQuanBn_zps86f2b62c.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo SU1BRzI3MzQuanBn_zps86f2b62c.jpg"/></a> Put it up on the work-table. Set the s30 4spd in front next to it (closest in picture to you) s30 4spd gears Put some garbage bags around them to keep the crap out for now.... Til next time... 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
This is sweet!! What exactly are you doing??....swapping bell housings?....or does it go deeper than that? Thanks ! Glad you like it Triple  Pretty much ! ----------------- Plans ------------------------------ I'm robbing the bell-housing off the 4spd ... .... Off to the machine shop it goes ....... having it machined out ... (measure everything before they do right ? ;) ) ..... Bring it back to my place and fit it on the KA24DE transmission. I'll then shorten down (or have shortened) one of my spare 72-73 240z drifeshafts aprox 2" (haven't decided how much freeplay I want exactly) I also have the KA24DE trans mount and cross-member still attached , so I just may modify that to fit in mine :) . Time will tell though right ? haha. Install the 4.11 or 4.38 diff ( or possibly a different one :sneaky: ) Install the rebuilt half-shafts (once my parts get here that is lol) Look into a cheapo ISIS 240sx short-throw shifter as well , but we shall see. I have other stuff going in , but am a bit "off" right now lol 1 Quote Link to comment
darrel
Tip for pulling the front cover. Youtube video shows a guy taking out the pivot ball and threading in a longer bolt, the threads go through and pry's off the front cover Just enough to knock it loose. What is the thread pitch on the pivot ball? I would guess it"s the same as the head bolts. Quote Link to comment
