so of course nobody makes the gasket for the rear glass, and neither does nissan have one sitting in a basement somewhere.

my options are nil, I could go with the Thailand weatherstrip, but Im reading all you guys say it shrinks, what else can I do? really need some help here.

edit: Nissan still makes the part, but Nissan USA cant get it. I went through Nissan Europe and they ordered it from Japan.

well I sent them an email and I am waiting for a reply, I am seriously wondering how bad the thailand rubber could be.....

I would just buy s type weather strip but, I am afraid that I wont be able to get it to work due to the tight corners, I could really use some expertise here......

I bet this system sounded pretty bad ass back in the day, its all Clarion.

That was the "Cat's ass" back in the day.Detroit couldn't touch it-or the Maxima for that matter.

Sucks about Scott's.He usally has the odd ball crap.

what I thought would be cool is if I were to replace it all with new Clarion stuff, just to make it like, IDK updated original i guess. I love the original stereo though, plus I still listen to cassettes so that might be staying anyway.

it was pretty advanced back in the day though, I would like to replace it with components and use the original locations in the dash door and read deck, the car came with 8 speaker sound system, thats amazing for 1981, my civic only has 6 speakers.

no they dont, call them, they wont even be willing to help you, I even talked to the manager.

Courtesy was the first place I called, also the 5th, 9th , and 14th

not one single nissan dealer in the entire united states could get this part, and I called between all 4 corners.

a few more updates....

removed the sunroof, or as I have come to lovingly refer to the piece of shit as a "fun-roof" because restoring them is all different types of fun!!.

found some rust on the lip so once I saw that, the sunroof came out. this car is damn near rust free and IT WILL STAY THAT WAY. so this is detinitely preventative maintenance.

heres the tub removed from the car

note: the first thing to come out is the actual roof panel, even before the Headliner.

and the disassembled tub. this is why I call them Fun-roofs.

I removed the rear deck panel. it was completely destroyed, I will have to make another one from particle board.

everything underneath is beautiful though

I really really wish my car was still this color.

this is the paint under the window seal compared to the paint on the exterior.

alright so we are Fast going down the road to a beautiful interior. I started removing the rust from the sunroof opening areas and am getting ready to sand and then prep/bondo/primer/paint/clear. I also removed the final sound deadening and interior lining in the back and trunk and got all the stuff off of the car, Unfortunately  it was quickly becoming a desk, there were the rear seats, multitudes of parts needing either cleaned or organized or something sitting on the hood/roof/trunk, terrible,  NO MORE. I cleaned every single thing off the car and prepped all the parts I had sitting on the car and got them ready to be reinstalled/cleaned and painted and put them in my parts room/pile, then I washed the hood..

I used the SEM color coat to paint the arm rests, we will see how this holds up, I painted the passenger side under dash panel as well.

I need to find a solution for the sunroof drain tubes still, then I need to strip/prep/POR-15 and reassemble the whole sunroof tub with new limit switches, and a fully cleaned and lubricated assembly with new bushings. and the worst part that I have no ideas as of yet how to solve, making my headliner.....

Thought this was interesting, so I wanted to post it here so I dont lose the info. IDK why there is no 1981 sales figure, but I found this on nissanclub.

Maxima USA Sales:
1982 - 54,187
1983 - 76,209
1984 - 68,209

Edit:

That is what I found, However I do not totally trust them, because you see a whole lot more Cressidas, and they made a whole lot less of them.

Got some shit done last night. Bondo sanded down on the sides, I taped off the entire area, and my buddys car next to it, LOL. Then I laid the primer. Tonight I am going to sand it down and smooth it out.
