1954 Ford Skyliner. Front half of the top is tinted glass. Had a snap in vinyl cover to block off if too much sun. The Mercury model was called the 'Sun Valley'. Also had them in 55 & 56 with the Crown Victoria 'headband' chrome strip. My mother had a 1954 Ford Skyliner that was Sunset Coral bottom with cream top. Very stately car.

Badass 62 Pontiac LeMans and my stocker, borrowing. 8.60s@157mph, mine won't do 80mph. At least for now

engine over the front wheels, transaxle over the rear. neat little cars. there's a red four door with this same front end that has sat a about a tenth of a mile north of the Highways 17 and 81 junction in Ninnekah, Oklahoma since at least 1981. it was originally a running car offered for sale by a mechanic/salvage yard though it had some issue - I think a problem with that funky drive line. mechanic/salvage yard is now long gone but the little poncho remains facing the highway. I'll snap a pic one of these days.

Pontiac Tempest ? Grandfather of the Lemans/GTO lines. Slant-Four engine that was half of a V8. As posted above, front-engine/rear-transaxle with curved flexible driveshaft (kinda like a big speedometer cable); flat floor with no driveshaft tunnel was one of Pontiac's big advertising points at the release of the Tempest. Pontiac's contribution to the US manufacturer's compact-car wave of the 1959-60 timeframe.

The rear transaxle was essentially a Corvair rear end turned 180 degrees horizontally to mate up with the drive.  The Corvair rear end turns opposite to the normal front engine rotation since it is rear engined.

Well hot damn you Ratsun guys (a.d._510_n_ok, MikeRL411, difrangia) know about these little Pontiacs. They are odd cars for sure. The torque converter is out in the open behind the rear diff. It makes a funny sound whirling around. My car is a 4 banger 195ci 110hp 1bbl, 2spd trans. Without a doubt the slowest car I have ever owned. That is saying a lot because I owned a Geo Metro. Here is a short video of a hopped up 4 banger Pontiac that I have with hopes of putting into the 62. I just need to get back to work? What do you know there is a Patrol in there.

Love it !! Half of a really jacked up GTO engine. Kinda like the International Scout slant-4, Chevy Nova 4-cyl, and the Pontiac Lemans Overhead Cam 6-Cylinder of the 60's. I've always been attracted to the oddball/offbeat machinery from all over the world. Been studying the French Panhard opposed twin air-cooled two-cylinders of the 40's-60's. Phenomenal little engines that put the hurt on much bigger machinery fairly regularly.
