a Messerschmitt not an Isetta?

I'm envious.

I just wanna be able to say "I own a Messerschmitt." and the goose-step around.

Yep, he traded a 50 something BMW motorcycle with a BMW side car for it in the 60's.....in Germany.....and sold it a few years later.

to answer my own question ti is dual rear axle.

That's dumb, it gives the vehicle twice the rotational inertia.

good for a gee-whiz, bad for speed

It was because traction from hard as rock polyester tires was extremely limited,, not speed ,,,,,,, you claim to be a math fuckin genious but i will try to put this in really simple terms even a college boi can understand.

Drag racing is about elapsed time,, NOT top speed.

Pretty sure those 2 super charged  nitromethane burning HEMI engines could overcome any "rotational enertia" ,,, they might encounter

whatever you say, history proves that thing to be a pig on the strip.

how exactly do you get a high time with a low speed?

If you have been around any kind of bracket racing you know that its possible to run nearly the same exact elapsed time and have one car 10+ mph different at the big end of the track.

You achieve a fast et with a lower top speed by traveling at a lower higher rate of speed for a longer amount of time.

Say you are traveling at 60mph, you travel a quarter of a mile in 15 seconds, a car on a drag strip can run that same quarter if a mile from a standing start and achieve a 15 second et with a trap speed closer to 100mph.

since the top guys deal in thousandths of a second making as much power possible and getting every bit of that power going to the wheels is the goal. In that case the less mass the better and definitely the less rotating mass the better.

that just gave me an idea... a three wheeled dragster, two to "steer" and one to drive. I'm sure there are flaws like stability, traction and drive. just a thought.
