Datsun Cab Swap

Recommended Posts

Hello. My name's Alex, I'm from Sacramento and I have a friend who has a Datsun 1600 pickup, I believe it was made in 1972. I wanted to buy it from him, but after a lap around the parking lot, I realized that it's just too small for me. However, he's shorter than me, and has an entire frame/drivetrain as a spare. His truck runs now, but the motor and especially the drum brakes are becoming slowly worse. He wants my help swapping the body and cab onto a newer frame with bigger brakes and a new motor. In exchange, he'll let me have the current drivetrain.

My question is, where do you get parts for a classic Datsun pickup in the US? I myself have an Opel GT, and the same basic motor was produced in Europe until 1995, and parts are still being reproduced. I'm not familiar with the Datsun community, and so I'm not sure where to start.

Rockautoparts.com what "parts" there like 12,971 "parts" on a 620 and alot of them arnt, and never will be made again. So used is the only way to go. Junk yards. And lucky for you a 620 is just about the most likely datsun to show.up in one near you.

Unless you have a use for the drivetrain/chassis, sounds kinda like a crap deal to me.

Yes, the 521 cabs are very small. If you're a tall person they are a bad idea. Heck, they aren't comfortable for an average size person. I've had 4 of them.
